When my stepfather’s health was ailing, my mother needed to learn how to handle the finances for the very first time. We set a meeting with William Cole, the manager, and he spent hours with us teaching her everything she needed to know to become independent financially. He advised us, supported us, and made this difficult transition for her so much easier than it could have been. We trust him completely. And after her husband passed, it was a personal call from William checking in with her immediately after the bank received a death notification for not just my stepfather… but for my very much alive mother too! Social security reported her as dead accidentally, which is a major issue. It was due to his personal service, knowing she wasn’t likely deceased, and his quick action of reaching out to her, that has gotten us up ahead of a catastrophic series of events due to her being legally “dead.” Frozen accounts, no social security payments, no Medicare….the consequences are staggering. But William alerted us so we could take immediate steps to get ahold of social security, and we met with him to get her frozen accounts reactivated before payments started bouncing and we only found out weeks later, much deeper in trouble. Had this been an impersonal bank, no one would have noticed and reached out to her immediately. There’s not a lot of personal, caring interactions with businesses these days. Mostly automated and faceless. But at Northshore Bank in Sister Bay it feels like the kind of customer care you forgot existed anymore. We’re beyond grateful for William and his staff and we know we’re in good, trusted hands for all our financial needs.”
