One waitress for 10 tables, the food had great presentation but had no flavor. Listened to 3 screaming birthday girls for an hour and half just to eat a dry $55 piece of meat. Sad to say I skipped a cheap meal for this much overpaid disappointment. Didn’t realize handspun potatoes were code for instant mixed potatoes. But by the look of the cook in sweats and crocs it made sense. Drinks were decent at best. Won’t be back.

The staff were friendly, and the meal was so good I asked my server to send my compliments to the chef.

The Lobster Rissoto was delicious and very reasonably priced considering the amount of lobster chunks in it. I also ordered an old fashioned which was quite decent. The ambience of the restaurant itself was rather upscale, perhaps exceeding expectations for a smaller city like Wausau.However, it achieved a remarkable balance – elegant yet refreshingly nonchalant, a welcome departure from the often-pretentious atmosphere found in similar establishments within larger metropolitan areas.

We ate at Char prior to a show at the Grand Theater - a convenient location for dinner ahead of the event. We had the lobster risotto and teriyaki salmon with wasabi mashed potatoes. The potatoes were an excellent accompaniment to the salmon. Our server, Cassidy, while stretched thin with a busy dinning room, did an excellent job. It did take a while for bar and food service, but we had anticipated that. Overall a pleasurable dinner.

We dined a little after 5 for a 7:30 concert at The Grand Theatre. The restaurant was quickly filled with guests who were there for a variety of reasons. Our waitress,although young, was very knowledgeable about the menu and despite being very busy, she was quite attentive. The food was very good! We shared a bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and had a pork shank entrée with spatzle and a lobster risotto. Dessert was a delicious chocolate cake with a chocolate panache and hazelnuts. From the cocktails to the wine to the coffee, the drinks were also very good. We would highly recommend Char Grill House!

We waited almost 2 hours for our food. The place was not even half full. Waitress seemed to avoid us and it took 20 mins if not more just to get drinks. We were given a free dessert for the wait. Not worth it. Our main entrees were just ok.

Loved this place very much! I could hear all my friends and family well because of your ZEN atmosphere..so many places have high ceilings that make a room hard to hear. This was appreciated emencly. Our food and service was excellent. Thank you for a great Experience ?

Booked a reservation through the app just to show up and have them tell us they're full. They continued to blame it on the app. Don't trust the app and their poor customer service.

We had a party of 4 people. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to come over and take a drink order. No mention that the kitchen was running behind. We waited another 15 minutes to get our drinks. After we ordered it was 90 minutes until our entrees came out. We had asked after waiting an hour and were told our orders were coming out next. That would have been a great time for our server to bring us a comp appetizer...instead she brought one to us with our entrees...made no sense. Our server never asked if we wanted more drinks, we had to ask for them. The food was good but definitely not worth the terrible dining experience. Very disappointing to say the least.

Service was terrible. Spent an hour longer there than we should have. Server Brandi was a ghost. Absolutely nothing about your restaurant was good. First time there....also last time.

Where do we start. Food was amazing. Service was horrible. The bartender can't make a drink to save her. Poor thing. And it took her 20 minutes to make the first round of drinks. We were half way through our appetizers before the drinks came. A bottle of wine and one martini. To top it off 2 of 3 appetizers came and my guests were almost done with theirs when the 3rd came. The server said the last one was being plated then stood at the bar for 10 minutes for going to the kitchen to get it. And yes it came to the table warm. I can't believe the bartender took 20 minutes to make a round of drinks. Dinner was done before the second round was delivered. Ambiance was nice. But the service ruined the entire meal.
