We came here and wanted to get a geode. A tradition for us to represent years spent together. We were excited to find a place during our anniversary trip that had them.We picked one out and they put it in the machine and I was waiting for them to get the blanket most people got to catch the geode so that it doesn't fall ... Nope she just opened the geode and let it crash to the floor and shatter Into a dozen pieces. Then just scooped the shattered remains Into her hands and dumped it Into our bag and walked off. Most unprofessional geode place we have ever been too. If you want a geode open, DO NOT come here.

Nice shop, prices are quite varied. Some are extremely overpriced, but there were some very good prices on Selenite and Pink Amethyst. Felt judged by the workers. Came in on a slow day last week, me and my friends were the only ones in the store and they were staring at us the whole time and made us pretty uncomfortable. Will be coming back for the few good priced options I found, though!

We came today and we bough a $38 bucket and a $18 bucket. It was NOT worth it. We have done this kind of sift mining on every vacation and this was the worst experience. The kids were very disappointed it was mostly tiny gravel pieces. We got one decent size amethyst and one Smokey quartz for $56+.Save your money and try the other mining business in town or do another activity.

We have been going here to do gem sifting each year. We always enjoy our time there. This year they helped me with my proposal to my fiancee and I am greatful for their help!

Love the mine your own gemstones part, beyond that it is a very tourist trap jewelry store, prices were definitely jacked up.

I had so much fun as an adult in the mining company. I love rocks. Now when they say mining, it's not what you think it is. You're actually doing a bit of hand panning. You buy a bucket. They have many prices from $20 to $150. You get two mesh boxes and they dump the dirt into the boxes and you shake it through running water. Everything I found was amazing. I don't know if this is a place for a toddler. They might get bored. I had a lot of fun though

We as adults understand the Dells is a tourists trap. But this place is on a whole new level. They were quick to take your money and left. Way over priced salted buckets. You would get more from buy their 1lb polished stone bag and mixing it a pail of sand at home for $12.99 not $60. If this is a family outing why is there not more interaction with kids to make the experience better for them. But the ultimate insult was when we sat down with their jem experts who didn't know the proper names of the stones and tried to tell us that ANY of our "rock" could be cut for $per carat . If you take all your finds to a gemologist in Montana and tell them you were told any of your choices could be cut and polished they would laugh all the way to the trash can. That is a line of garbage don't believe them. Our neighbor told us about the Cave of the Mounds and their experience there was top notch and a better learning experience for kids and adults alike. I recommend the Cave over this any day.

I remember doing this back when the kids were just kids. They seemed to like the nostalgia. I know I did. Who doesn't want to go mining for gems, right? We ended up with some birthstones, and perused the other jewelry they had in this fun little shop in the dells.

Customer service was fantastic, very friendly staff. There were great verities of different crystals and so many unique pieces! On the other hand.. The rock panning was not worth the money. I had gotten a 75$ bucket with 3, 1inch raw amethyst rocks that appeared to be sun washed (lacking color). The remaining rocks were a variety of gravel-sized minerals, including a small piece of pure garnet; but these didn’t seem to be equivalent to the overall price of the bucket. There were much nicer items in the shop that I could’ve purchased instead.

This was our first time here and it was so cool the kids loved looking through the dirt for the rocks. They also had a lot of really pretty jewelry and some cool turtles!

I've been to this location multiple times now. The "mining" experience is pretty cool the first time you go, but the real interesting pieces are on display. Lots of beautiful jewelry, crystal pieces, and even lamps. The only reason this has 4 stars instead of 5 is, like many crystal shops, they price gouge the crystals.

Amazing place to shop. Endless crystals and jewlery. If you are looking to spend some quality time with kids or your partner they have a mini minning which is fun. It is also budget friendly. You should visit.

Always fun to see what a person can get from the buckets. The price is fair. I've been going here for the last 10 yrs. It's a great place to take kids to find great treasures.

I am addicted to mining. We stopped here while on our trip. We did the $75 bucket ( not sure of exact total) and had a coupon to get the white top bucket for free. Got some good gems, I honestly think I got some better gems out of the white top bucket then i did out of the big bucket. When your done the girls came by and gave you a bag for your gems and a bag for your gravel. Its a bit pricey, but still a fun activity
