The Nicolaysen Art Museum, known as The NIC, is Casper’s home for contemporary art and creativity. It is a premier art museum and a great gallery featuring a dynamic mix of rotating exhibits from local, national, and international artists. Exhibits include painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, and special exhibits, with a good selection of Wyoming art and traveling exhibits. The museum is beautiful, very well-maintained, and smaller than others but just as beautiful. The NIC is dedicated to fostering creativity and community. It offers many opportunities, including art classes and workshops for all ages, an activity center for young children, and an amazing studio for kids. It does a lot of work with local high schools and is committed to developing a love for art in children across Wyoming. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The museum also brings other forms of art and entertainment to Casper through community events like free concerts and movies in the summer, and special events such as NIC Fest. Sunday afternoons are free. A unique feature is the large and unique antique clock in the front lobby.
