We came in from East, map took us on dirt road could miles, nothing bad. If you come from west it's all paved. Receptionist very friendly, rooms are named after historic people. Beautiful wood work, warm rooms. And quiet. Near by stream adds to the ambianceToo bad coffee is ready at 8, I left before 7.

We came here for a little weekend getaway, and we were blown away at how good the food and drinks were. My wife and I are foodies, and we have gone on vacations specifically to eat at certain chefs restaurants, the food here for dinner was comparable to some James Beard winners we have eaten at. The room was very cozy and we enjoyed not having a TV. This place was the perfect way to get away from the electronic leashes of modern life. It was a great little minimalist getaway, and sometimes that is exactly what life needs. It's hard to describe how nice it was to go somewhere and just enjoy the escape from the industrial world.Rooms: Very Victorian and extremely quiet.Food & drinks: The food was such a hidden gem, the drinks are perfect, it was a great meal.

What a charming bed and breakfast and what a find in the wind swept high plains. The elk mountain hotel is definitely off the beaten path. But if you are in the area, it is certainly worthy of a visit. This beautiful house now converted into a hotel has gorgeous rooms that have so much character. The staff is so warm and inviting and at night it feels like it's your own little home. Home cooked meals great you. And hospitality is abundant.

First off I have to say this was by far the the highest quality of customer service we have received on our travels. They went above and beyond for our diabetic child and made sure we were very comfortable. The food was amazing and overall we had a great stay. I do want to say we were given a pet friendly room and it wasn't disclosed to us that there were glue traps and mouse repellent in the room. Our little dog stepped in a glue trap and definitely ruined our night a little.

I've been waiting to come to the Elk Mountain Hotel for a long time, and this trip the timing worked out perfectly! I snagged a room and looked forward to the experience. Well, it will be something I won't forget for a while. First, the residence is beautiful; it is a sight to behold both when you see it after driving over the bridge and when you actually get inside -- that is maintained all the way into your room. It's old-time elegance. The bed and all the trappings are excellent -- even the wifi could sustain a Zoom call with downloading resources. So it's a great place to sit, work and sleep. Unfortunately, it ends there. Dinner is from 5:30-7pm, so I went down at 5:40 as I had a conference call at 6. No one was around; I waited. Nobody. I went upstairs to do my call, came down at 730, again, no one around. There is no food, no beverages, nothing else in the hotel, and nothing in town. I could drive 10min to the highway-side gas station for trucker food and drink [not the meal I was expecting!], but the rules are you can't bring in outside food. So, I'm drinking tepid tap water until morning (no ice available either). I'm glad I came and saw it, but the overall experience is off-putting.

Seriously was a great stay. Rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. The checkin folks were extremely kind. Made our kid feel welcome with a rubber ducky for the tub. He showered without a fuss which rarely happens. They even gave us an extra set of bedding and a floor mat for him to sleep on the floor. We are definitely going to go back to Elk Mountain and stay here again. Awesome!

I live in Elk Mountain and don’t stay but I support the restaurant and eat there as often as possible. The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is amazing. It’s clean and quiet and peaceful. And most importantly the food is top notch. Honestly better steaks and food than most of the bigger chain restaurants. I recommend you stop and eat and possibly stay at any chance you get. It would be great support for the Hotel.

We love the Elk Mountain Hotel! They accommodated us last minute since i80 closed. We were so happy to find a comfy bed and an even better dinner. The food and service is beyond wonderful. If you ever have the chance to enjoy this beautiful place please do! With deer running in the parking lot and a quiet vibe, you won’t regret it!!!

This place is a hidden gem. My truck broke down on interstate 80 right before a big winter storm hit, which left me stranded trying to get a tow. I discovered this place looking on Google maps. I called them and they even came and picked me up in a blizzard. The service here is impeccable. They bent over backwards for me in every way. They even helped arrange a tow with the cooperation of the state police, while the interstate was still closed. On top of all that, it’s a very interesting historic hotel. The restaurant is also top notch. If I ever get the chance again, I would love to visit in warmer weather, and tour the museum and other sites in the town. Thank you Christine! And send my thanks to the rest of your incredible staff.

December 30, 2022 saved by this historic hotel in Elk Mountain! Our transmission froze because of the snow storm. As we drive off the road in white out conditions the only hotel nearby opened up just to help us out. Wouldn’t want to stranded anywhere else. Best local hospitality ever! Saved us. Grateful and in awe of this little diamond. Must visit again!

We came upon some bad weather while traveling and happened to be close to this hotel. They were accommodating and let us check in on short notice. The restaurant was charming, highly recommend the bison burger if you eat there.
