I enjoyed seeing the buildings and grounds on my visit this past week. Unfortunately, I arrived late in the day so the museum and the other buildings were closed. But I was very impressed with the care and the detail that went into to everything I saw. Will have to go back when the buildings and museum are open.

We got there after closing but was able to walk around the park still and look at the buildings. Really fun to see and really awesome place with a lot of history. ? Worth stopping by.

The past comes alive through costumed interpreters, museum displays, and a reconstruction of Jim Bridger's trading post. Established by Jim Bridger and Louis Vasquez in 1843 as a emigrant supply stop along the Oregon Trail, it was obtained by the Mormons in the 1850s, and then became a military outpost in 1858. The Fort was abandoned in 1890, most of the wooden structures that remained on fort property were sold and moved off the grounds. In 1933, the property was dedicated as a Wyoming historical landmark. Check out the annual Mountain Man Rendezvous held every Labor Day weekend.
