About Fontenelle Creek Campground

Fontenelle Creek Campground is a peaceful and scenic spot located near a lake, offering a quiet escape for campers. The campground features open scenery with views of the water, and many sites include a picnic table, a roof cover, and some have a BBQ grill. It is a BLM site with well-kept grounds, though it can sometimes be dusty or have cow dung on the ground. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as boating, ice fishing, and walking around the waterfront. There is a boat ramp nearby, but the water level can be low, making launching a boat a bit of a walk. The campground has no water hookups or electricity, but water is available at several sites, with the need for an adaptor to connect hoses. Restroom options include flush toilets when the weather is not freezing, and vault toilets during winter. There is a dump site near the entrance and a dumpster at the boat ramp. The area is known for being very quiet, especially in the off season, and wildlife such as chipmunks, rabbits, and birds are commonly seen, with pelicans often visible. Fees are typically $7 per night, sometimes free during the off season or with a senior national parks pass. Although the campground can be windy and may need some upkeep, it is generally considered a nice, affordable place to enjoy nature and the outdoors.
