JCPenney has been a trusted shopping destination for style, quality, and value since 1902. The Kemmerer, WY location offers a wide selection of products, including exclusive brands like St. John's Bay, Liz Claiborne, Arizona, and Okie Dokie, to fit every lifestyle and budget. Customers describe their visits as delightful, with the store's history and friendly staff adding to the experience. The Kemmerer store is the "Mother Store" of the once-eminent national chain, designated as a National Historic Landmark District in 1978 for Penney's role in creating one of the first national department store chains. Despite the changing retail landscape, this historical gem continues to provide a worthwhile shopping experience for the community.
This is an interesting piece of history and a store that is still operational. Worth a visit if passing through as most of the interior is original. Employees here are much nicer than a typical JCPenney and embrace the historical aspect well.

If you are ever in Kennemer, WY, I would highly recommend a visit to the Mother Store where It all started in 1905.

What is a delighhtful visit for the history, and I spent over $200 on clothing. Good for everyone. Linda and her colleagues are a treat. This stop reminded me how JCP has quality clothing with a lot of cotton content at a fair price.
