“Update: Customer service got back to me and told me they would be seeing if Toyota would replace the part due to the electrical issue but that no matter the outcome they would replace my headlight. They wanted me to know they stood behind their name, products and service. Kayla was very kind and understanding and I am grateful she went to bat for me. I am hopeful things will get done but will give another update when the light is fixed.
We brought our Toyota Sienna to Yellowstone needing to have the ballast and headlight replaced. The ballast had a crack so it would not stay securely in place the way it should and the bulb needed replaced. We spent $650 to get the entire thing replaced just to have it go out again in less than a year. We called Yellowstone, told them the situation and brought it in for them to look at. They called me back and said the ballast and light were damaged and since the warranty is for 12 months or 12,000 miles we can’t replace it because you have gone over the miles.
My research shows that “A new ballast should last for a long time, potentially up to 20 years, while the lifespan of a new bulb depends on its type. Xenon HID bulbs can last up to 10,000 hours, while halogen bulbs typically last 500 to 1,000 hours. A new ballast should outlast any new bulb by a significant margin. ” My vehicle had not been in an accident or damaged but somehow the ballast was damaged. After speaking with the manager he said he would look into what they could do (I hated to even have to speak to a manager to try and get them to do right by us). They came back and said they could replace it for $400+. That puts us over a $1,000 on a headlight. Tell me why I would want to spend more money with a company that is not willing to back their product and service that was done less than year ago. I went to them thinking they know Toyotas, they will do a good job, etc, etc. My recommendation…go somewhere else and don’t waste your time and money.”
