Some farmers had produce that should have been thrown out, but they were trying to sell them.

It's tricky. Some 'farmers' buy boxes of whatever and hang out selling melons from Mexico, tomatoes from Florida and etc. If you see boxes in the back of the truck, that's what's going on. They are just re-sellers.Actual farmers are there in hot weather (duh) when they have produce. THEIR stuff is in grocery bags, buckets, whatever-and they are usually GONE before lunch. Another tip is they LOOK like farmers, and will tell you where their farm is. If you want a bunch of actual fresh stuff, go early and remember where you are. If it's May and you're buying cantaloupes or corn....it is from somewhere else, just go to Walmart. There are a couple of 'markets' on either end of stalls and they are ok and have local stuff IN SEASON but otherwise, Walmart is easier and same or lower price.I'm not a Walmart fan, just speaking Truth. Pepper Place has a decent farmers market IN SEASON (see a trend here?) but it's precious, crowded and generally a pain. It's where the farmer has been forced to conform to saying 'heirloom' and 'free range' to be able to come out ahead. Lot's of folks with pained faces and dogs that are children surrogates. Go early.

OmG! Lived here for 20 years and NEVER knew this place was here. And actually stumbled on it when my GPS thought it was taking me somewhere else. What a hidden gem for folks who love fresh fruits, veggies, plants, etc. It was a little hot so I didn't stay long, but definitely plan to come back

The market is usually booming this time of year, but stifling heat has slowed it down a bit. There's still plenty of fresh Alabama fruit and vegetables.

Birmingham,AlabamaBirmingham, Alabama is also known as the Magic City. The City was named after Birmingham, England, the Center of that country's iron industry. The new Alabama City boomed so quickly that it came to be known as the "Magic City". "Pittsburgh of the South" after the Pennsylvania Center of iron and Steel Production.Birmingham, Alabama is also one of the 10 most reasonable and lowest cities in the United States of America, for one to live, and also in terms of renting and buying a home or house ??.

The prices are pretty high this year on all of the produce and fruits and vegetables and there's not very many local farmers out there right now I'm going to check back about the middle of June and see if they're out there because they're the only ones that you can use your EBT on the program for getting $1 worth of fruits of produce for every dollar spent and they're the only ones that people 65 and older can use their produce cards with

They have a small variety of foods to choose from. Other vendors are showing up since it's growing season. It's best to check around each stand for the best price.
