Not sure why it only has 4.2 stars. It should have at 5/5 stars. Wonderful hotel. It’s up on a hill and you have a good view of the mountains. It is nice and quiet in that area. I felt extremely safe staying here for multiple nights as a single, young female traveling by myself. The front desk staff and the breakfast and staff were amazing and so friendly. I felt right at home and have never felt like that before! I’ve been to many hotels all around the country and this one puts every other hotel/airbnb to shame. It’s also conveniently close to so many good restaurants, hiking, and shopping so you won’t be bored. I will definitely be back!!

The manager was very helpful. They were full with college age students and she gave us a different room to avoid the noise. Rooms were very, very clean, and the breakfast was pretty good.

The SWEETEST and most attentive hotel staff I have ever experienced. I was in town for an outpatient surgical procedure and this hotel was perfect for recovery. Rooms are clean and well maintained, no bugs (I always check the corners of the mattress in hotels), very quiet compared to other hotels closer to the center of Birmingham. Absolutely a gem for the priceRooms: Well maintained. Didn't feel hideously outdated. Comfortable temperature, pillows, and bed (fairly firm). Clean bathroom with hot water and complimentary makeup wipes (SO convenient). No negativesSafety: I felt extremely safe here. The front desk was always occupied by a staff member, and I always appreciate the extra locks on the room's doorsNoteworthy details: Every single member of the staff I met were absolutely incredible in making sure I was happy, comfortable, and taken care of

Easy check-in with friendly staff. Tucked away from the noise of 280. So it's quiet but with access.

Average hotel in decline. With family nearby it's a good location for us. We've stayed many times over the last several years. They've ignored our special requests a few times. Great location. No outside noise. Free breakfast is good. WiFi consistently connected with good speed. When/if they get the room maintenance back on track it'll be worthwhile staying.Rooms: Ok, but in decline. Maintenance issues each time we've stayed recently, e.g. toilet leaks, lamps not working, nothing stocked in kitchens, etcSafety: Never worried about staying here. Feel safe and secure, including parked vehicleWalkability: Can't walk to much of anything here. And if you do, be prepared for steep hills

Really great service, clean rooms. When I travel, this is my go-to hot. Had one issue with my room door, but Debbie accommodated us and set us up in a different room. Will be returning ??

The ONLY place to stay on 280 imo. We stayed at multiple hotels on hwy 280 this past week. This is the only one that we had zero complaints. Breakfast was good, beds are super comfortable, staff is polite and friendly. Don't bother looking around at other places, for this price range, this is it.

By far the nicest staff I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Jim, the GM, you should take pride knowing what you did for me to turn a horrible situation around to make it wonderful. God bless you and I will forever be a customer!

PRO'S: Front desk attendant was friendly, knowledgeable and seems well informed about the goings on's of the hotel. Was polite and eager to help. Was quick in dealing with problems she was presented with. Front desk attendant seemed to be struggling with a small language barrier with staff, but still managed to recover a pillow cushion, that was missing from the chair in my room when I arrived. Breakfast was okay, waffles were great and had the best western logo on them. Stayed in the suite and the space was great. A/C was perfect. 24/7 free coffee tea and juice bar was nice. Hotel was quiet, I never head the other guests while in my room. Both check -in and check out were easy. I called down to the front desk to ask if any luggage carts were available and the front desk attendant confirmed it, on my way off the elevator I discovered her bringing the cart to the elevator with a smile. In the morning food was brought out hot and in waves, did not have to weight long for fresh food to be replenished. CONS: Bed linen was stained. Mold had grown on the floor behind chair. Floor was not vacuumed well, dirt and debris remained in patches on floor. WiFi did not work anywhere but the main lobby, connection could not be established in room, establishing a dead zone. Bathroom was never pictured online because it was a small dingy yellow hot box. The tub was not clean , the black soul mark of the shoe of the person that last stood in the tub was however there and very noticeable , like a fake Hollywood crime scene clue footprint from an old film noir movie. T.V. remote control was sticky and quite disgusting, tried to clean it with Clorox wipes, did not work. Pillows were as small as marshmallows. Bed sheets has holes. The smoking section was close to the elevator , so the elevator smelled like an ashtray sometimes. Front lobby smells like mold as soon as you walk in. Breakfast crowd was a little aggressive. Did not find bed very comfortable. The furniture had been placed out in an odd, obtuse kind of way in the room. Base boards beneath sink and mirror in room has been repaired/replaced with a ugly untreated piece of particle board greatly taking away from the rooms aesthetic. Only one of the two waffle makers were working and that slowed things down a bit while trying to prepare breakfast. Could not find vending on the second floor(were my room was located) had to ride smokey elevator ripe with aroma of McDonald's and wet humans from the pool, just to go get ice.

My experience in this hotel was not good since the rooms smelled of humidity. During the 3 nights and 4 days they did not clean the rooms and it also smelled a bit bad because of the garbage, we had to ask for towels and garbage bags. The worst thing was the service, since I had let the receptionist L&*d@ know that the room needed cleaning and she mentioned that they had not finished cleaning the rooms yet and when we arrived later, we realized that the room was dirty and also not there was what was necessary such as garbage bags, towels, shampoo, soap etc. I made it known to the same receptionist and she was not kind or understanding, on the contrary, she denied her responsibility.

07/2023- My family and I were driving by Alabama on our way back home to Texas and I called to set up reservation and to possibly get a discount since we were going to be checking in at 10:30pm. Ashley was super helpful over the phone and super sweet throughout the whole process! Even though she’s still fairly new, her customer service was 11/10!! I would definitely be coming back if we’re ever in the area again!

I am usually pretty happy with almost anything but for the price ($190) and cheaper, the absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed in (out of countless). Room smelled very strongly like mildew (despite running the air for hours) and I found hairs and debris in the shower and sink. The thick curtains don't close (they are not full curtains just decorations) and the thin ones don't close all the way, so no way to keep people from seeing in or blocking out the bright lights shining on the hotel, which is on a very high ridge. Absolutely no way to get to anything without driving and food places I checked would not deliver here. Creepy empty other hotel and nursing home are the only things anywhere up on the ridge. No benches or furniture outside anywhere except two old picnic tables in a grimy smoking area. I usually stay in Holiday Inn Express - this is more expensive and a tenth as nice. Wouldn't have stayed here but car broke down and I had no choice, except creepy hotel next door. Don't be fooled, lobby looks okay but the second you get away from it, it seems to age with every step. I should have kept walking or tried harder to get an Uber but this place was close to where I needed to be, I was tired, and it looked nice online and in the lobby. Quality is more in line with a $70 hotel. I don't know where the 5 star reviews came from. I'm almost terrified to see the breakfast tomorrow. Positves: Staff was nice I guess, overall quiet, and shower water was hot as heck. Outdoor pool.

UPDATED!!!(They fixed everything and upgraded us)...we are currently staying here. I'm not one to complain, but felt the need to. We got in at 2 am last night and was very tired so this is why I waited so long to reach out. we booked 2 double beds, but walked in to a King Room Instead. as I walked in the room, there was a random, dirty towel laying in the bathroom with the back of the toilet tooken off and the bathroom was just extremely dirty. we are staying here a few days and I have to tell you it's going to be tough staying in the room. Reached out through email but nothing...
