I, my wife and my daughter have been to this branch on multiple occasions. Separately I might add. Everyone of us has been treated respectfully and professionally. Reading the reviews I wonder if some present with preconceived notions as to how they are going to be treated.

The service at this location is poor. You can call and no one answers The financial advisors are also slow to respond. Days, if not weeks, too emails. Moved my account

This branch and I may have had our differences over the nature and permissions associated with the distinction between hard and soft credit pulls associated with opening accounts. The branch manager ominously invoked the ‘Patriot Act' to suggest that Schwab can do as many ‘hard credit pulls' whenever & as often as they want (despite the negative consequences to your credit). However, there is no such uniformity in the financial industry; many financial firms do *not* do hard credit pulls when you open an account. A soft credit pull leaves no demerits on your credit. Do your research. Even if you invest a large amount of funds, remember this warning when you see the first pull.

The Birmingham branch of Charles Schwab offers helpful seminars, where they explain their views of the market, various products and who might benefit from them. Their suggestions have always had my best interest at heart. They also periodically offer a free “shredding†event where you can take large amounts of old papers to be safely disposed of.

I went into the office to discuss rolling over a small IRA, the premise being if it went well I'd do more business with them.

Their suggestions have always had my best interest at heart. They also periodically offer a free "shredding" event where you can take large amounts of old papers to be safely disposed of. Even though I have a modest account, I have always been treated professionally and courteously by Elaine, Lynn and the other professionals at this branch (as well as the national 800 number). I have recommended the Birmingham branch of Schwab to family members and co-workers and they have all been pleased.

Terrible customer service. Elaine told me, without knowing anything about me. that I couldn't have a particular agent, even though my account had more in it than my husband who had that agent. I definitely felt I was judged by my gender. We did end up getting the same agent, but the experience really left a bad impression on us.

Ok, we only have one account with Charles Schwab and it has less than 100k in it. But when my wife who is Latino went by to reset our login information they treated her like she was there to empty the trash cans. Checking her out for head to toe, probably thinking she was wearing knock offs. Once they pulled up the account they then asked her to have a seat and helped, however still with condescending mannerisms. Charles Schwab has done well with this account but the staff should be more respectful, I think i will keep our other accounts right were they are.

I have had a positive professional experience with the Birmingham branch. I had a complex and traumatic situation which the manager and her extended team helped me coordinate amongst multiple financial institutions to create accounts at Charles Schwab. As a result of their knowledge and experience they helped me get control of a challenging financial situation. Now, I see a better financial future ahead. A great team to work with.

My husband and I transferred our accounts from Michigan to Alabama when we relocated here. His account was assigned to someone, and when I asked to be with the same adviser, Elaine, the office manager, said I could not, because you need to have a large amount of $$ to have that particular adviser. I told her but I have more money in my account than my husband... this didn't make any sense. This was at a Charles Schwab event, and I felt humiliated. I had never been treated like this in Michigan. I did get the same adviser, but our customer service was never up to par. Only my husband would get annual calls about his account, no one there would contact me. We have since transferred out accounts to another financial planner and we are through with Charles Schwab. I cannot advise anyone to use this firm.

After BB&T ended lobby service, I was on the hunt for a bank that had minimal fees, could handle my emerging interest in long term investing and didn't charge international transaction fees. Charles Schwab fit the bill entirely. I've banked at this location for 6+ months and they have been nothing short of abundantly helpful with my naive investing inquiries, debit card replacements, and other inquiries. I love the banking app for my phone and the no fuss fee structure.
