I've been going to this particular location of orange theory for almost 2 years now and wow, I can't begin to explain just how monumental finding this gym has been in my life. I originally joined to get in shape for my wedding but ended up staying for the long haul because THIS WORKS YALL. Downtown OTF is, in my opinion, the superior one in the Birmingham area. Coach Avana and Nigel have what it takes to keep me engaged in class and always pushing to be better. I go 3 times a week, sometimes more and I saw results quickly. I'm no longer embarrassed to show my arms in sleeveless dresses and tops, and my muscles are more defined. I will caution you though, you get what you put into it. If you only come once a week you probably won't see results. This is something you have to work for (as is any workout facility). Going as much as I do has yielded a long term loss in body fat, toned legs and arms, and endurance IVE NEVER HAD, even when I played college soccer. I can run 5ks without even thinking about it now AND I AM NOT SOMEONE WHO LOVES TO RUN. Favorite things about OTF DOWNTOWN- there are so many classes to choose from that you don't get at other OTF or any other studio of any sort. The coaches and staff are top notch. It is always clean and in the showers they even provide hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They have complimentary hygiene products in all bathrooms for that day you forget your pony tail holder, deodorant, or tampon. First class is free so why not try it out?

I would have loved to have given OT 5 stars, because I absolutely loved the staff, facilities, and the workout. I tried OT while I was traveling through Birmingham, and I've been wanting to try an OT studio in my hometown of Miami. I signed up for a class and was told to come in 45 minute prior to class, which going to other studios I knew that was way too much time. When I questioned it, they said 30 minutes prior was ok. I showed up before class and they completed paperwork, got me setup for a heart rate monitor, did a studio tour, and then introduced me to the coach (Avana) who showed me how the equipment worked and gave a brief overview of today's workout. Avana was an amazing coach, checked on you throughout the workout and kept you motivated along the way. So why not a complete 5 star experience? The heart rate system didn't work throughout the entire workout. The coach and the front desk team checked their system to see why it wasn't working and they couldn't remedy the problem. It really defeated the purpose of the OT system and workout because of the technical problem. It's hard to figure out how you need to modify how you are performing in your workout if their systems aren't working as they should be. Would I come back to OT? Probably, but it is for the staff alone. I don't fault them for faulty equipment.. but I do fault management for not keeping their systems up to date and maintained.

Loved this gym! Getting signed up for a cross regional class was easy, called in and they looked me up and I was good to go. When I got to the studio, was greeted by the front desk person. She got my HR monitor going, and I was ready for class. Everyone was super friendly, so enjoyed some quick conversation before the class started. The class was exactly what you want from an OTF class. High intensity, with a great trainer. Love it! Highly recommend this studio. I've read some of the past reviews about customer service, and I experienced excellent customer service from when I called in, to being there.

This location is dangerous. I have never paid so much money to be manipulated and controlled. However, my issue with this location has nothing to do with the high cost. I have had an injury to my shoulder for a few years that I typically just modify my workouts to avoid further injury. The rowers have always caused issues, so I just sub the bike instead to avoid injury. No brainer, right? The Downtown Orange Theory trainers, managers, and area managers told me time and time again there is NO excuse for me to not be able to row physically and would insult me for trying to do so. While great in "theory", my orthopedic surgeon begs to differ. He listed at least 12 parts of the body that the rower can cause injury to. During each class over the 3 month period I would request the bike and they would question me as if they did not believe me. They would say things like "This is for people who are ACTUALLY injured." It was a constant battle of trying to protect myself. There were times I left in tears from being belittled by the staff. Not only is their theory insulting and dangerous for the clients, but it's reckless and not legally sound to make these accusations without any medical training. So spare your body try the other fabulous workout facilities in the Birmingham area!

I visited this studio as a guest from out of town. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had no trouble getting booked in and signed in with their help. Coach Nigel was super fun and high energy, and I really enjoyed the music. He was also very attentive and gave great tips on form when I needed some coaching. I will definitely be dropping in again at this studio when visiting Birmingham!

It's a workout that kicks your butt...and every other part of your body...but also somehow makes you want to come back for more! The workouts are well-planned, challenging, and diverse. The trainers are motivating, knowledgeable, and spirited. The heart rate monitors are beneficial in that, not only do they track your heart rate, obviously, but also count your calories burned (and your steps if you rent or buy the latest arm band; there's a chest monitor option too) as well as your splatt points (you'll understand once you're there; that's my teaser). In addition, as if that's not enough, the heart rate monitors give you something to strive towards as you can see the real-time reports on a big screen and, after your workout, you'll receive an email providing your achievements for that day plus your updated weekly and monthly stats. I mean, truly, what more could you ask for?! How about music? They keep it pumping, creating the perfect vibe to keep you going, even when you think you can't. Oh, and by the way, Orange Theory delivers RESULTS , just as long as you are committed to showing up and doing your best (you compete against yourself; you need not worry about everyone else). Finally, the front desk staff are all genuinely friendly and helpful. I believe they've changed management, and I'm pretty certain the low-star reviews are from before that; I honestly couldn't imagine anyone giving this place a low rating. It's like the "Cheers" of fitness. Can you tell I love this place?! I actually look forward to going, and miss it when I'm not there, and, although active in my past, I'm not certain if I can say I've felt this committed to a workout this tough, especially the cardio part (which is proving to be soooo beneficial). The workouts and the people have made my life even better. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Orange Theory - downtown Birmingham!

They deserve 0 stars bc they are MANIPULATIVE. They say month trial for $159 and money back guarantee if not pleased. Well I'm not paying that much to run on a treadmill for 30+ minutes. I can do that on my own. So I go to cancel and they refuse to give me my money back. I'm sorry what? Not only are they not refunding me the $159 but they are charging me for a SECOND month bc I didn't cancel 30 days before.... like I was supposed to know to do that?! The front desk is PUSHY business men just trying to get your money. I will be cancelling my credit card to no be charged these payments. Worst company.
