Location is also wonderful close to zoo restaurants and shops The downside was the tv in the room was not a smart tv no in room movies no in room food and beverage service The restaurant menu was really small no appetizers It was so odd for such a highly rated hotel

I just want to give a big shout out to Luna. We stayed at the hotel in late June and I left my wife's hair appliance behind. I called and spoke with Luna who quickly confirmed that it was in lost and found. She promptly shipped it to us back in Florida. I was in the dog house and she got me out. Thank you Luna and all of your colleagues for providing top shelf service! :-)

I'm not clear on what exactly makes this property either grand or bohemian. The staff was really great - helpful, friendly, prompt and accessible (both front office and restaurant/bar/room service). The food and drinks are about what you'd expect from a hotel at this price point, but not better. The addition of the art gallery/gift shop is nice, but really only a momentary diversion. The rooms and the pool are the real disappointments. I hoped the rooms would feel sumptuous and even a little luxurious. They were really not that stylish, or that comfortable. We had a double room with a soaking tub. The bathroom was nice, and spacious. The bedroom area felt cheaply-done for the price point. The pool was small, cold, and completely shaded. There wasn't enough outdoor furniture for the people who wanted to use the pool, which made it unsuitable for swimming or sunning. We were traveling with kids, and while there were other kids at the hotel, it's really not a great hotel for families. Overall, this hotel is a lot of bark, and not much bite. It just doesn't deliver. I did have a really great massage at the Poseidon spa. The spa is well-appointed, spacious, and peaceful. It is the crown jewel of the hotel.

I have probably rented 20+ rooms from this hotel over the past several years as we have family in Birmingham. The hotel is pricey but we have tolerated it because of the convenient location and beautiful property. We have also always been very happy with the service up until our last trip. Unfortunately, we no longer feel comfortable staying here after how we were treated. After a recent weekend stay, I was called on a Sunday afternoon (over 4 hours after we checked out) and told that we had significantly damaged our room and they had already charged our card $1700 to cover the cost of the damage. I was FLOORED over this as I knew that we did not damage the room. The ensuing back and forth wasted days of my life. We were eventually refunded the money but I have never received an apology of any sort. If you must stay at this hotel, I would request a walk thru with the manager before you take ownership of the room and one again before you check out. In addition to this, CHECK your bill before you leave because 50% of the time I have a valet charge or food charge that I did not make. I expect better than this from a higher end Marriott hotel.

I had a great stay at this hotel, mainly due to the exceptional service given by Jamil, Gotti, and Teele. These three men had the perfect attitudes for making Customers feel at home and pampered. They served us with great humility. Because of their world-class service, we will be back!!!

This hotel is lovely and has obviously been designed with care and creativity. Unfortunately, once you arrive and are met with the choice of self-park in a packed shopping center and carry your belongings from wherever you park (no cart available outside of those controlled by valet) or valet for $30 and tell your customer that only valet can drive a luggage cart (seriously, my husband tried to drive it inside and was stopped), it quickly begins to feel like the design of this hotel within this quaint area among shopping, restaurants and apartment living is only for the benefit of the hotel and not at all for the customer. We are already $30 in, when we get to the room and bottled water is $4 each, bottle of red wine placed in the room for $38 and NO COFFEE ANYWHERE. Come on! While I’m sure there are travelers who don’t expect anything less than valet and $4 for water, where is the care and attention towards every other customer? There are literally no amenities here. You get a pretty place to spend the night and a bed to sleep in. Everything else is extra. We will not be back and would never recommend.

Stayed at the facility in Asheville and it was nice. This one has similar décor, but that's where it stops. Could hear lots of noise from the hall and enough noise from the road to be annoying. Staff was OK. Mattress on the bed had a lean to it. Surely there are better places.

wanted to enjoy the huge bathtub and relax, as I was getting out of the tub, there was long blonde hair wrapped around my fingers, I was disgusted! My hair is very short and black. I had a late check out for 1pm. Housekeeping manager comes knocking on the door at 11:30am. She asked if we had a late check out, I told her yes, and she apologized. No communication from front desk to housekeeping! 5 minutes after housekeeping manager left, the houseman knocks once and lets himself into my room! Thank God I was walking out of the bathroom and close to the door, I pushed it close and stood behind the door, I was in my underwear. I poked my head around the door and told the houseman, “I just spoke to your manager and let her know we had a late checkout “! He apologized. UNACCEPTABLE! What if I was sleeping naked in bed or in my underwear?! My husband was not in the room at the time. There needs to be communication from front desk to housekeeping manager, from housekeeping manger to housekeeping and houseman. We tried the dinner at Habitat the night before and our food came out cold. They “remade “ our plates and brought them back out in 5 minutes. Overall, our experience was the worst we have ever experienced. We’ve stayed in way less expensive hotels with amazing service, wonderful food, and great experiences. I don’t understand why the Grand Bohemian charges excessively for their rooms, food and drinks, and doesn’t present exceptional service whatsoever. The only thing nice about this hotel, is the art in the hallways. The owners/corporate definitely need to pay a surprise visit and do some in house intense training. I will not recommend the Grand Bohemian to any friends or colleagues. And we will not be returning for any future stays. There are plenty of hotels in Birmingham that provide excellent customer service. We were also told we would be in a quiet area/ floor as requested. People were extremely loud and drunk in the hallway at 1:30am.

The art is so beautiful and diverse. Very nice amenities and a quaint place. I loved the welcome. On one day it was champagne and the next was lemonade and cookies. So yum!

Great hotel. Amazing staff. Valets were extra kind. Love Christie! Breakfast is delicious and bar was perfect for a nightcap. Our only negative is not enough drawer space in the room (and our room is huge). Besides that we would come back in a heartbeat. The gallery is great too!

The Service was fantastic! Personnel was on their job. Front desk was very cordial the whole time. My room was clean, linen smelled fresh. Everyone was masked up even with a Smile through the masks they wore. That was my first stay, but I've visited the restaurant a few times for food & drinks. I will be visiting there again. Thank you Personnel for your Southern hospitality!!!

I have traveled for 30 years for business and normally "I hate hotels". The is one of the first hotels I did not feel like I was in a "hotel" with massive people. Friendly Fancy without bing pretentious clean quiet (after the first day of staying next to a room with an infant that had to be about 3 months old - up every 2 hrs crying). many amenities that - unfortunately - we were unaware of until we arrived (dinners/cooking events - wine blending - pool tables (but sometimes booked by private parties). Signs around the hotel were annoying - about if you were vaccinated that you did not need a mask but if not, you did need a mask. Crazy - since more people with vaccines spread the virus more now since they think they are immune and that abut 50% of those in hospitals with Covid now are vaccinated. EVERYONE should wear a mask in this era. Discrimination about the status of your vaccine status is ridiculous. Small elevators - had to wait 5-10 minute to get either an elevator by ourselves - or only with 2 others early in the mornings. Restaurant food was above average for hotels - but limited staff resulted in many food service delays (covid related staffing issues).
