Been seeing Dr. Begun for many years. He is the most thorough eye doctor I've ever been to. He takes his time and covers all aspects and even will ask how your family is. Answers all questions in detail. Two times over the years he caught possibly major issues no one else had seen and we got my eyes fixed. Thanks, for listening, Dwight in Hoover

Kim and Dr. Schaefer were absolutely amazing, couldn’t have asked for a better visit. I didn’t get the girls name who did my first exam but she was amazing as well, overall highly recommend.

First time buying glasses and everyone was extremely helpful from working with insurance to picking out frames. Bea was very patient and educated me on how to make an informed choice. She made the process of picking the right pair easy. Great selection to choose from as well.

I went in yesterday for my annual eye exam and to get fitted for contacts and glasses. The doctor was great and the staff was super friendly. Also, Ms. Bea was awesome ??! She helped me and my husband pick out glasses that were a good fit and never made us feel pressured.

Great experience! Dr. Bui and Kim were both helpful with picking new contacts (previous brand discontinue) and glasses after wearing the same brand of contacts and glasses for years.

I worked with Kim in picking out a new pair of prescription sunglasses and she is FABULOUS! I would give her 10 stars if I could. Her professionalism, patience, level of skill and knowledge, along with her caring nature is highly commendable. My prescription is a bit tricky. Kim ensured that my glasses are perfect for me aesthetically and functionally.

EDITED REVIEW: I have changed my original review below from one star to four stars after being contacted by a patient relations consultant with the company. She was incredibly helpful and let me know that due to the abnormal extent to which the coating on my glasses had worn off, the company would be replacing the glasses for me. While it took a little while to hear from any representative, this representative was extremely prompt and kind. I am very satisfied that the company was able to solve my problem.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This review does not pertain to the actual medical services I received at My Eye Doctor. For the past five years (since it was Shaeffer’s) that I have been a patient at this location, the doctors have always been helpful and provided me with great care. This one star review pertains to the experience I have had with the retail portion of the company. In short, the retail associates put extreme pressure on you to purchase glasses, and when you find a pair that you’d like to purchase, they try and up-sell you on every conceivable coating and accoutrement in order to render your insurance benefit virtually nil. After being forced to choose a coating (I chose one of the less expensive ones) for my new glasses, within less than a year the coating has worn off. Upon contacting the office, they told me that in order for my glasses to be insured I had to purchase a $29 insurance package along with the glasses. I expressed confusion about why I would need to purchase insurance in order for my glasses to function normally and without fault, especially given that I am not responsible for the coating wearing off so quickly.After contacting the my local office to no avail, I submitted the following online complaint to their “Patient Relations department” on May 10; they said they would respond within 2-3 business days, but I have yet to hear from anyone:“Hello,I purchased a pair of prescription glasses from the Mountain Brook location in June of 2022. The protective coating on my glasses has begun to wear off after less than a year of general use. I contacted the Mountain Brook location to see if my glasses were under warranty since I was disappointed that the protective coating on my glasses had begun to come off after such a short period of time. The Mountain Brook representative informed me that my glasses were not under warranty and that I had to purchase a $29 insurance plan with the glasses when I originally bought them. However, I do not understand why my glasses are not under warranty within less of a year of me purchasing them and why I would be required to purchase an insurance plan to ensure that my glasses function properly and normally. I did not break the glasses. I did not scratch the glasses. The fact that the protective coating on my glasses is wearing off has nothing to do with how I treated the glasses. To put it simply, I received glasses with a defective coating or a coating which your company knows would wear out in less than a year so that I would have to pay more money for a replacement coating or another pair of glasses. The Mountain Brook representative also let me know that the loop hole which you will use to get out of liability for the defective coating is that you will say that you do not know what I have been cleaning the lenses with in the past year, and therefore the glasses are not under warranty. Besides the fact that this loop hole is only a way to ensure that your customers pay more money to replace glasses that received a shoddy coating in the first place, I in fact have been using the lens cleaner and the lens cloth which your store provided me with a year ago. Needless to say, I would really appreciate some assistance getting this issue resolved. My wife and I have been at My Eye Dr. for many years now (we started appointments when it was still Schaeffer Eye Center), and I would hate to see a lack of resolution to my problem cause us to explore more eye doctor options.”

Excellent experience with the team and especially loved the care and attention from Bea as she helped us find the perfect pair of glasses. She's not only highly qualified and precise but also relates really well and is super patient, kind and an advocate for the client.

I had a comprehensive yearly exam and subsequently ordered two pair of frames with lenses for my new prescription. I certainly felt like I was well taken care of by both Dr Schaeffer and Ms Kim with both taking ample time to care for me during my appointment. I’m excited to have my new glasses when they arrive.
