My National rental car broke down at 6:30AM. After waiting 5 hours no two trucks showed up. I called three times and had a wrecker dispatch each time. They finally towed the vehicle 11.5 hours later. I had to ask a coworker for a ride to the hotel. The next day they send me to the closest enterprise rental car location. When I arrived at enterprise, and they had no knowledge of my rental. I called National and they spoke with the rude enterprise person. They argued a bit and nevertheless no car. I have to call another coworker to come get me. It is day two and I do not have a replacement and there has been no direction as to when I may have a replacement. This is a corporate and national account for my company. IT has been a horrible experience.

When I thought the service at the gem of the Nationa Rental chain couldn't get any better, along comes Aleiyah M. What a pleasant person to have to provide the excellent service that one would expect from customer service. She made a complicated issue for me very simple. When a person goes out of their way to accommodate me I feel someone if not everyone needs to know. Thanks again to the great Birmingham Airport National Car Rental Center crew. Kudos to Aleiyah M, Alicia F, and Ms. Gwen

By far the worst car rental experience ever. Despite reserving weeks ahead online, they didn’t have a car available. Person at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional. Manager was incompetent. All around miserable experience that wasted hours of my life.

Emerald executive member here.This location is rather mediocre. From the car selection, to the customer service, they will make you feel like you don't matter. They will swear they don't have the keys to any car you actually like (this is not an aisle location) and try to convince you to drive what *they* want to rent you.Eventually they finally gave us something we wanted to drive, not without the apparently obligatory eye rolling, sighing and frustration.Bad experience overall. First time in 10 years of elite status that I'd really look at a different rental car company. Don't waste your energy with these people

Great experience every time at National at the Birmingham airport… Very professional, pleasant staff! I rent cars their often and it’s 5-Star each time!

I had the worst experience with National at BHM airport. Though I had confirmed reservation, the office manager, Pathani, refused to give me a car because I am Saudi. Despite of all efforts with her, she refused. What made the experience worst was National Call Center which could not resolve the issue in more than 2 hours. At the end I had to rent a car from another company, Hertz. I submitted online complaint which is not yet addressed by National. Note: this was a service provided for a National/enterprise Emerald Club member.Post-Review Feb 18: based on request from Lisa, detailed email was sent to care center. Waiting for outcomes.Update on March 2, 2023 : no response to my claim yet. Lisa needs to do something !

I spent one hour getting a new car because the previous rental I did drop off was not closed on time. And the girl wanted me to go to the line again When I had all that time waiting for their resolution. Their system is really old, you have to wait too long to get a key, other places you just pick a car (keys are inside) and go to check out, no lines.

They did not properly check in my car when returned and charged me an additional 307.90 for an extra day that I didn't even use. When returning your car make sure you take pictures, record time stamps and make sure someone checks your car in as a return right then and there. When I went to return my vehicle there was a line of vehicles and nobody at the booth. I had to physically walk up and return my key. Worker which I messed up and didn't get his name said your all set you'll receive an email. I didn't receive an email at all instead I received an additional charge of $307!!!

They did not properly check in my car when returned and charged me an additional 307.90 for an extra day that I didn't even use. When returning your car make sure you take pictures, record time stamps and make sure someone checks your car in as a return right then and there. So me knowing my finances thinking I have a certain amount of money on my credit card I went to fill up my truck after work for my car to get declined. So now I'm stuck at a gas station with this charge and a bunch of embarrassment. Thanks National, really appreciate the last 4 days of penny pinching after purchasing gifts and paying bills for my family on Christmas.

Have to say the process took 6 minutes since I drop off the truck, paid and pick up.the other rental. front desk people and guys on the drop off are kind and friendly. the invoice was directly to my email. I am amazed about the services and quality of their cars...

It was my first time renting a car in the USA and I didn't know what to do when I returned it. But Luigi was so friendly and nice so he me guided through the whole process and I could even got my receipt right there despite the amount of people that was already in line to return their cars too. What a fantastic service!
