I just adopted a puppy from MCAS and the staff were all AMAZING. I found the sweetest little puppy. Her and my other dog are two peas in a pod. If you want to adopt this is is the place to do it.

We had a serious problem with a stray female and her 8 puppies way under our shed. She was very protective! So aggressive we could not let our dogs out. I called MCAC. Officers Brittany Dickman and Kevin McRae came out. It would have made for great TV on Animal Planet. It took about an hour but they got'r done. We are so grateful for all they did. Very professional and easy to work with. Very kind to the animals. I am sure they will do all they can to get them adopted. We were already busy with 4 -1 month old puppies of our own.Thank you MCAC!!

I just tried to take my animal back to the shelter and the security officer wouldn't let me explain why I was even up there and started to take multiple pictures of my license plate she also threatened to charge me with animal neglect like I'm trying to return an animal and you all won't take him wow definitely do NOT recommend this place at all!!!!!!

Well kept but hate having someone follow you around when you're trying to look at the pups. You feel pressured and in a hurry.

After finding two stray pit bulls that had clearly been starved nearly to death, the county picked them up and took them to this shelter. I waited with the dogs for a little over 2 hours, feeding them and wanting to cry, watching how hungry and grateful they were - so I got attached. After they took the dogs, I stopped by the shelter a few times to check on them. They went from complete skeletons with enormous heads to nearly normal looking pits in about 2.5 weeks. The vet saw the dogs, and they were OK. Overall, I was pleased with the staff, their attentiveness to the animals and their treatment of me - the crazy dog lady. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they have NOTHING setup to post animals, donate funds, let folks peruse the babies looking for homes...I had to struggle to figure out how to make a donation. If I lived in the area, I would volunteer to help them set something up and take a mad leap into the new millennium. They are missing a HUGE fundraising potential.Anyway, the pits recovered and are now up for adoption. They are so sweet and loving and deserve a good home. They spent the first part of their lives being tortured by some sick m**** f**** and they still managed to love people. They deserve a good human who will show them what love is.Merry Christmas

They told me they’d rather have me drop two strays off in the street rather than them take them or help in any way. No recommendations on any rescues I could call or anything.

My husband and I adopted a sweet dog from this shelter recently. We were impressed with how well the animals are taken care of and the efforts of the staff. Ray was great with the animals and answering our questions. You can tell he really cares. He let us bring our two dogs to meet their new brother to make sure they got along before we committed. I highly recommend adopting. Cash (formally known as Rolly) is thriving and loving his new home.

This is a shelter that doesn’t take strays. I’m so confused as to why it’s called a shelter if it’s soul purpose isn’t to shelter those who don’t have homes. This establishment is a joke and most likely is the reason why Mobile residents don’t save animals. We have no avenues to take them to other than rescues. Even then it’s hard to get ahold of rescues. A shelter is put in place for situations where animals are abandoned, found, or injured. It’s supposed to be a public service. Instead it’s just an adoption center and who knows where they get their animals if it’s not from the public.

Waiting too long for them to pick up stray dog!!!A stray lab just hanging around my house and staying my back yard. I’ve been trying to keep him away from my 2 small dogs in my back yard in 10 days with 3 phone calls for them so far. They keep saying they don’t know when they can come to pick him up. It’s bad raining season we are trying to keep him dry by many ways. So tired of what they are working now

Very clean. Staff ready to help. Staff seemed knowledgeable about animals i.e. which dogs didn't like cats which is really helpful since I have both. Staff takes time to help you pick right animal. I like on their website that it says they're working with community to make here no kill shelter.
