After working for a non-profit as a lobbyist during a Montana legislative session, and living in Madison, WI, I've been in Capitol buildings that were more impressive and felt truly for the citizens. This was unimpressive by several metrics, but I can tick it off the list.

Highly recommend taking this free, self-guided tour. There is lots to see there. A very friendly, helpful young lady gave us a lot of background onb Alabama history and the capital.
