Mt Juneau Trading Post is a great store located in the historic district of Juneau. It is a large store packed with thousands of gift items and souvenirs. It offers a variety of local and Alaskan-made goods, including beautifully carved moose antler items, masks, carved bone, totem poles, and paddles. They also have traditional fur skins for sale and wild animals hanging on the walls. The staff are friendly, provide great service, and can assist with purchases remotely. Prices are about what you'd expect for a tourist spot, but are considered fair. It's worth a visit to take a unique piece of Alaskan culture home.
Four generations of the Tripp family, descended from the Deisheetaan Clan of the Tlingit Nation, have cultivated close relationships with local artists and crafts people. Their shop (and online store) sells everything from baskets, jewelry, knives, carved masks, moccasins, and bentwood boxes to one-of-a-kind collectible items such as a dazzling hand-carved rattle in the form of an oyster catcher bird. -Edward Readicker Henderson 151 S.
