Beautiful hotel with an antique vibe, and a nice restaurant. The owner/receptionist is such a nice and helpful gentleman who has apparently been running this hotel for 25 years. The only thing is some of the rooms is quite a lot smaller than the others. The room I stayed in has hardly standing rooms for the two of us. Basically one had to stay on their bed for the other to move.I also suggest they don’t clutter the already tiny room with antique decos - I tried not to break them but they were all over on the only two small surfaces we can put things on!

No refund! Unfortunately we were unable to experience the Hotel Skagway as we had to cancel our planned 2 nights in July due to wildfire risks on our trip up from Canada. What we have experienced though is the hotels refusal to refund us our deposit of USD263.52, even though we had met the cancellation policy of 30 days notice. After repeated emails without response to a Mr Karl Klupar as well as to their general info desk I have taken to media to share my experience and to hopefully warn other potential cancellation guests

"When I grow up, gonna be a scientist of loveLove Science"(Todd Rundgren)We didn't stay at the Skagway Inn and we didn't eat a meal in their restaurant. But we did spend a few very enjoyable hours learning about kitchen science, local wildlife, and cooking tips from Chef Tyler. We started off with a tour of their herb garden where so many of their spices and produce are grown. We covered so many interesting topics in Chef Tyler's presentation - the 5 kinds of salmon, The best way to dice an onion, a look at the Alaskan ULU knife, the anatomy of a chef knife, and tips on catching fish.We were offered a cup of coffee or Chag tea. I had never heard of Chag tea, and when we learned it was made from mushrooms I just knew I would try it I did and it was pretty good.We had an interactive and very interesting demonstration on how to use red cabbage to measure PH.We also sampled a slice of bread with a cheese spread, gravlax, and a sprig of dill, and a dish of homemade vanilla ice cream. We also interacted with Carl the owner, and Daniel, our driver. Daniel entertained us with a sleight of hand magic trick. The Skagway Inn is beautiful, their herb garden is very cool, and the personalities we met were fantastic.

Didn't stay, but ate here. The food is definitely worth the slightly higher price that you see elsewhere. One nice touch is the use of fresh herbs grown on the property, which you'll see in some of the pictures. The restaurant makes good use of built in benches in the windows, so there's more space than you expect, which allows you to stretch out and relax. So even if you're out for a short excursion, ask to be dropped off in town on the way back and stop by.

If you're staying in Skagway, this is the place! This lovely inn is located downtown within walking distance of shops and restaurants, and the service is wonderful. I highly recommend staying here.

A great historic inn. Lots of little lessons on Skagway history. The inn is very much on the European model - several of the rooms are "tight" - Not palatial suites. But near, and clean. The bathrooms and showers work well, despite their consistency with the overall historic theme. Our room had a fabulous claw foot tub with a great shower. Some of the rooms share bathroom facilities in the hall - again, neat, clean, and familiar from European inns.Walkability: Great location in historic downtown Skagway.

This was our first trip to Alaska, and the Skagway Inn was the perfect place to stay. From the history or the building, to the amazing breakfasts we were served each morning we had such a great time. The rooms are all named after girls who used to live and work in the area. The beds were comfortable and had a lot of character! Karl gave us some great recommendations and talked to us about viewing the northern lights. Breakfast was always fresh with ingredients from the garden in the back! Everyone was very friendly and more than helpful, and everything was within walking distance of the Inn. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay!Rooms: The rooms are all named after girls that worked in the community. They were cleaning comfortable, and we loved everything from the wallpaper to the ceiling!Safety: Every room had a key, and they lock the whole house at night (providing everyone with a front door key). At no point did we feel unsafe.Wi-fi: Good wifi! We had no issues connecting. However Karl did mention there are points where it is easier to connect, and then the wifi works throughout the building.
