Mountain Sky Hotel & Suites offers a comfortable and reasonable stay in a perfect location in Valdez, Alaska. The hotel is an older property, dated for sure, but the rooms are consistently described as clean, tidy, spotless, and comfortable. The staff receives exceptional praise for being kind, very kind, friendly, helpful, personable, and amazing, providing excellent customer service. The management keeps the operation working smoothly and efficiently. The location is a major highlight, with easy walking distance to all the town’s amenities. Everything is right there within walking distance, from charters for fishing, whale watching, glacier tours, and kayaks to a handful of little shops and restaurants. The hotel offers partial views of the mountains and one of the most beautiful views in the world. Guests felt safe with the well-lit property and cameras. Some minor issues are noted, such as a temporary problem with not being able to control the temperature in the room, though opening the window was a fine solution. While the hotel could benefit from a remodel, its rates are relatively manageable compared to others in Valdez. The family-run atmosphere and outstanding service more than make up for the building's age, creating a welcoming retreat. Many guests state they will definitely be going back.
There was a minor issue with the room (that was no fault of the hotel), the staff's response more than made up for it. Excellent customer service and a reasonable room in a perfect location in Valdez.

Not a bad place at all. I slept like a baby. Location was awesome. Parking sucked tho.

The room wasn't ready, but I was given a good one. Jason was very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful.
