One of a kind store in Calgary. Old books paradise with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Be mindful that they have very volatile hours of operation.

This place has an absolutely fantastic collection of old and rare books for sale but it is open only on saturday between 1000 hrs and 1600 hrs (I believe). All other visitations are by appointments only. In any case its still well worth the trouble to visit this place. Go ther go there go there cause you re guaranteed to find a gem of a book.

I was excited to have found a bookstore near the parts store where I could find some lovely old books as I am a collector. Upon arrival I had asked to use the washroom before starting to explore the books as I was in pain. The store was lovely and the older gentleman kind. I believe we would’ve made fast friends. However, I was unable to use the washroom even after I explained I had just had surgery. This man didn’t care. I am not sure what has happened to humanity but today has made me very sad. Needless to say I didn’t purchase anything; nor waste my time in a place with zero empathy. If you hope to receive even a shred of kindness explore elsewhere. I have never left a poor review before but today I am heartbroken over how far we have fallen as human.

Spent a ton of time hereCustomers and staff are really excited about what they have. It's good to go with a loose idea of what you want to find because the inventory is massive and not all accessible. I kind of want to dive in and do some sorting for 2 weeks as a vacation but he didn't seem too keen to my vacation plans.

My favourite book store in Calgary. Many treasures and finds to be had. Truly a five star experience, but I gave four stars only due to the sometimes difficult hours of business.

On my first visit I award 3 stars. I have begun to understand that this "rare book" store is truly a "rare bookstore" unique unto itself something to be discovered and treasured for sourcing rareties and antiquities. Limited website and social media presence at this point in time.

Owner is a great guy who loves to interact with customers! Love the style of the local, independent bookstore, and I enjoyed my visit!

After no less than 6 phone calls over two months. I am no closer to actually securing an appointment for a book appraisal. Every time I call I get a different answer. I'd say forget this place completely if you are looking to do serious business. They are almost never available for appraisals. You'll find yourself calling and calling. Trying to book appointments that never materialize because the guy never shows up. May as well fly to Vancouver to find serious appraisers. Waste of time!

It's been a long time since I actually danced around with excitement when receiving a package in the mail. Thank you Aquila books for my 1st edition collection of poetry by Bliss Carmen, 'New Horizons'. I have been on the lookout for this particular volume of poetry by Bliss for some time, and I was trilled to finally find it on Amazon! I was so quick to purchase it that I didn't even realize it was coming to me from just down the road here in Calgary. It was packaged beautifully. The classic "Aquila Books" label is now a treasured bookmark. Thank you!
