I see this is a wonderful thing you all do. I think the Peanut butter and jam are great. I am concerned with the processed meats they are known as carcinogens.Cause cancer. Why not cucumbers or tomatoes in the sandwiches. My favorite as a kid. 😊

Amazing work done by this crew. From that location alone, we made over 1300 sandwiches. 3200 were made across the city.

Volunteered to make lunches with a networking group I belong to called Canadian Business Chicks. What a well oiled machine Brown Bagging Calgary is! from 8 am to 930 am we made all the sandwiches for almost 1000 kids and added them to the snacks that were already prepped. We took a short break and from 945-noon we chopped all the veggies and fruit for the next days snacks. we also learned about the good work that this organization is doing, and we all took pride in knowing that our contribution made a huge difference. if you are looking to make a difference as a team, I would consider contacting this organization. We worked hard, had fun, and helped many in the process.

On Tuesday morning I found myself trotting up the slightly awkward stairs for Brown Bagging It's kitchen (seriously, they're like 3 inches tall each... not big enough to step, but not a smooth way up either) to help out with some sandwich making and lunch assembly. I was warned that I probably have never washed my hands that many times in one morning before. They weren't kidding. Mimi runs a strict kitchen. Don't touch anything. If you do, wash your hands. Before you switch from one station to another, wash your hands. If you touch the bottom of the bread bag with your gloved hand instead of just holding onto the top bit of the bag, take the gloves off, throw them away and... wash your hands. I could go on... but I think you get the picture. This is one clean kitchen. It's also a really smooth operation. They've been doing this a looooong time and have their systems down to an efficient science. Different stations, different duties, different teams... in one day I hopped from sandwich making duty to carrot cutting (the carrot slicing press thing is pretty fun, I'll admit) to sandwich bag sealing. There was certainly never a shortage of things to help out with :). If you're looking for a spot to volunteer with some friends (or your coworkers!) book yourself in for a morning here. You'll be helping to prep lunches for kids that really need them in the city, and having a fun morning in the process! But get in touch with them now... they're already booking volunteer spaces into March. Yelp's 30 Day Challenge: 10/30

BB4CK is a great organization that helps kids get possibly their only balanced and healthy meal of the day. By feeding their bodies, they are able to concentrate at school and feed their minds to become whatever they want to be

If I know of any Calgary charity that will achieve it's goal of eliminating itself by eliminating the need for it's services, it's Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids. This is a well-guided organization that understands its purpose perfectly and the impact of their work has been tremendous!
