Our family purchased the Wells 84-inch leather sofa from Crate & Barrel in September, and I need to express how deeply disappointed we are with this purchase. Quite honestly, it is the worst couch we have ever owned.
When someone gets up from the sofa, it tilts forward. The arm cushions continually fall out of place, often completely off the couch. So much so that we spend more time adjusting or picking them up off the floor than actually enjoying the furniture. For a product at this price point, this level of design and quality is unacceptable.
I contacted the store in Southcenter today to share our concerns and spoke with Beverly, who was also the associate who originally recommended this sofa. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive and limited to saying, “I’m sorry it wasn’t up to your standard.” This is not a matter of personal standards; it is a matter of basic quality and functionality.
We expected far more from Crate & Barrel, both in the product itself and in the customer service that followed. This experience has left us extremely dissatisfied, and as it stands, we will not be shopping at or recommending Crate & Barrel to others.

The staff that were working on Saturday, December 20 at opening were extremely unpleasant, with the exception of Sage, she was great. The older lady with pulled back dark hair was abrupt and condescending. Being lectured on what a 20 piece cutlery set is was wild. I know how many settings it is, but thank you for trying to speak down to me. Why have 6+ people working if no one wants to work, or, act like they don't want to be there? If you are going to be expensive, at least have customer service. My husband and I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

This store has got to have some of the rudest staff I have ever encountered in any retail store. The store itself is great, but a lot of staff at this location are unwelcoming, cold and clearly look down on you unless you look like you have money.
This was proven by my most recent visit. Associates simply pass you by and don't even acknowledge your presence in the store.
When I tried to pay for some items, one associate was completely blocking the counter while chatting with other people. Did not even budge as I approached.
Once I did manage to squeeze in, the cashier who took my items did not utter a single word throughout the whole transaction. NONE. Not a simple hi or hello. Didn't ask me how I wanted to pay, didn't ask me how I would like my receipt. She simply rushed scanning my items, rushed packing them and, yet again, did not say anything as she handed me my items. It was a very bizarre and rude interaction to say the least.
I wish I was making these up but no, these were all real, and by reading other reviews here, my experience was not unique. If I could give a negative star rating for customer service, I would.

I absolutely love every time I’m greeted by Maria C at the south center location, she understood my needs and budget and went up and above to get me what I was looking for. I bought a couch higher than the budget I had planned but it has elevated my space. My second visit for my recliner chair she knew exactly where to guide me because she remembered my family style which means she listened to me the first time.
When I picked my chair at the warehouse by the airport I met Jose and Leo, literally we tried in every way to fit the chair in my Acadia, anybody else would have dismissed me since it was 4:50pm and they closed at 5. Finally we reclined it and fit it in. Literally the best service I have encountered truly caring, professional and above and beyond. I came home with a great story about human quality and my chair!
I’m so happy to see that there is more than a sale quality, it’s so splendid to see that there is a human quality still in retail.

I’ve always loved Crate & Barrel — their products are beautiful and feel special. That’s why I was so excited for this order. Sadly, this experience has completely changed how I see the brand.
Our order was short-shipped, leaving us with an incomplete set of plates meant as a gift (no gift message as requested on our order either). We were promised a call back that never came, and after several days of waiting, all they offered was 15% off our next order — as if we’d want to go through this again.
It’s embarrassing to plan a thoughtful gift and end up empty-handed because a company simply didnt do their job right and didn’t make it right for us. I expected better from a luxury brand where I paid $200 for 8 plates.

I ordered a set of eight plates from Crate & Barrel — a brand I’ve always associated with quality and care. The order arrived missing most of the items. I contacted customer service, chatted with a representative who promised a follow-up the next day (after speaking with the store) — and never heard back.
When I called in to follow up, the only thing offered was 15% off my next order. That’s not how you fix a failed first order. I expected accountability, not a coupon. A company built on craftsmanship should show the same pride in its service.

Gather Sofa 88” – Icon Dusk
We’ve had the Gather Sofa for about five years and honestly, it’s been a bit of a mixed experience. The size is awesome and it’s super comfortable to lay down on and has tons of space. It’s basically the size of a single bed, which we loved for family movie nights.
The downside is the quality. When we bought it, we were told this specific fabric was great for wear and tear, but that hasn’t really been our experience. We have dogs and kids, and the fabric has pilled quite a bit and just doesn’t look the same as when we first got it. The cushions also sag in the spots where people sit the most, even though they talk about “performance foam” on their website.
It was great at first, but after about five years, it’s worn down enough that we’re already thinking about replacing it. For the price, I expected it to hold up better.

I recently visited Crate & Barrel to return items that were in good condition and clearly met the store’s stated return policy. Unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of appalling. The store manager,Kaitlyn, was unprofessional and spoke to me in a rude, almost discriminatory tone, as if I were returning items at a discount store rather than a premium retailer.
As a loyal customer who has spent thousands of dollars at Crate & Barrel over the years, I was shocked and deeply disappointed by this treatment. The interaction made it clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority here. To make matters worse, another associate joined in with a condescending speech that only added to the humiliation.
This is truly a shame for a brand I once respected. I will not be returning as a customer, and I will be sharing this experience on my social media so that others in my network can avoid going through the same degrading treatment.
