I love Dollarama but I don't like the stores that force you to go to self checkout when you have lots of items. I try to do my larger shops at locations that also have their cashier counter also open. Self check is fine for a dozen or so items. But HEADSUP the 130th Ave SE Calgary store always has their cashier counter closed no matter how long the wait line is and no matter how full your cart is. So don't plan to purchase much there each time you go.

very unfriendly and rude workers!Staffs should get more education oh how to treat their customers.I called the staff for help, no one came to help me and I saw one staff near me, she heard me but did not do anything. I approached her and asked for help again, she didn't even look at me. One more call for help from me, she answered me very rudely. Maybe they don't care about having business or not.

This is the worst Doloram's store in Canada. On November 7 at 7:30 am I had an unpleasant incident for which no one apologized. I bought some groceries and remembered that I forgot to buy candy for my kids. A woman, a manager of about 50 years old, started accusing me of stealing chewing gum. She did it loudly, saying that she "saw you put the chewing gum in your pocket". I denied that I had just paid for my purchases and showed her the receipt. Then she started running away from me in shame. I asked her if she wanted to apologize for her mistake. She just ran away. I am sure that all Calgarians are polite people. In the country I came from, they also always apologize for mistakes. Maybe the management of this store should pay attention to the people they hire. This case was very similar to racism.

Went in just after 8pm. When we went to pay, the ONLY tills that were open was the self checkout, I do not like the self checkout and I avoid it every place I go to. We had to get help 6 times on about 21 items. If it was slow, we needed help, if something wasn't placed 100% properly, we needed help. After awhile it became more of a pain than anything. This is a store that I will never return to as I was forced to become an employee without the paycheck.

Why do we get rid of people at the checkouts?? The ended up helping me with the machines that didn't work anyhow. I miss human contact.

Wow, a lot of people on here are complaining about the customer service, and how these minimum wage, working two jobs to pay rent and feed their families workers are not throwing up unicorn rainbows and sunshine. You may not either, if you were stalking shelves for HOURS (grueling and exhausting work) and made minimum wage. Maybe next time you head into the DISCOUNT STORE, to buy your cheap wares, you should maybe think about kindness and compassion. They are always perfectly polite to me.

The human element in these places is slowly disappearing. There is less human service and as there are less humans the humans that remain are less well trained humans. It's a trend that seems inevitable.

There are some stores that would rather lose longtime customers than lose 50 cents, and this is one of them.On May 22nd I went into the store in the evening with a family member, we often frequent this location and were going to purchase a bunch of things. On my way out I notice that there was a sign infront of the Amp Energy Drinks that indicated they were a dollar, upon arriving to the self-checkouts they were scanning for $1.50 each, I alerted the attendant and guided her to where the sign was.She first says that because the sign is green she thinks the price is for the green ones and then she scans the green ones and they also scan at $1.50, she then tells me that she can only give the price indicated on the sign for one of them (I had 2), I explain to her that incorrect signage in the store is not my fault and it's only 50 cents, she says it's their policy that they can only adjust one and then proceeds to try to blame the vendor saying the vendor must have put that sign and drawn over it. At that point my family member and I just decided to leave all of the items we were going to buy.I contacted head office and they send me back a canned response explaining how their pricing discrepancies work. I respond back requesting to speak to someone through the phone and they still have not replied to me.Needless to say, I am not a fan of stores that place more importance on 50 cents than longtime customers, especially when it's their own error.I will not be shopping at Dollarama anymore.

While the store is well stocked & very clean, I suspect this is due to the fact that the staff are no longer busy helping customers or operating cash registers. The self checkout process is ridiculous & you can't just go to a cashier. At least, this was my experience while I was visiting the store. Even though the staff were not busy & were standing right next to me, I was still told to use self checkout. I had $100 bill & after trying it several times, I finally asked the staff for a different hundred & this is when I was told the machines don't accept $100 bills. There is no signage anywhere to inform the customers of this. I felt very uncomfortable being displayed on the screen that was located on the self check out & the staff member standing next to me watching me. It can make a person feel guilty just for shopping, like you're a shoplifter. I had to come back to the store about 10 minutes later to grab a couple more things I had forgotten. I was waiting to get a text from the Registry office nearby to tell me it was my turn to go in & I got the text while at the self checkout. I was trying to hurry but the items were not scanning & the plastic bags are so small (which cost 8 cents!!) that I couldn't properly bag the large baking racks & plant pots I was attempting to purchase. There's really no room for these large items on the bagging scale anyway! Again, I didn't have the option to use a cashier. Finally, the staff member stepped in to scan my items, which I was so grateful for! The staff could also be a lot friendlier, but I'm sure they're frustrated with all these new policies that Dollarama is forcing upon its staff & customers. I am sure they receive complaints all day! Clearly the Dollarama franchise is attempting to force out living, breathing customer service representatives in favor of technology. They literally employ the bare minimum amount of staff & I'm quite sure they are only there to essentially unlock the doors & stock shelves. It's very sad & I only shop here maybe 3× year now, where before I would shop at Dollarama at least 3× a month. They have got to be losing money because I know I'm not the only customer who feels unwelcome shopping here now.

It's one of my favorite Dollarama's in the city. This location is large but still fairly clean and organized. There tend to still be lines, but with 6(ish) self-checkouts plus the one or two employees on the till, the line doesn't seem to last very long.Nice selection and variety here. Would recommend!

This store has gone to only self check out. It is terrible! The screens don't work half the time and it constantly doesn't register itemsAlso I have a brain injury and cannot look at screens with out getting a wicked headache and vomiting. This is not accessible for me at all. So disappointing.

I find this place really good for buying disposable dishes and cutlery. Some of the products are of great quality and value for money. I noticed nowadays dollarama is no more max$4 store, some products have higher price like $5 and prices are inflated . But still solve the purpose for party stuff and art supplies.

Absolutely insane they don't allow returns. Bought a bunch of extra candles for a wedding, didn't end up using them and now I'm out hundreds of dollars because they don't accept UNUSED candles back. You can clearly see they are unused too because the wicks aren't touched. Livid. Will not be bringing my business here again
