Nothing but good things to say about the bike/ski service department. I had a pair of Scarpa touring boots that developed cracks after only a few years of use. The boots were bought in Europe a few years back, but Shaun was able to write up a warranty request on my behalf and send my boots in. It took several months (spring & summer) and some follow up, but TaDa! I now have a brand new pair of ski boots and am looking forward to the season. Can't thank the young man enough.

It's not the same after they took away the Co-op. It's now MEC the Mountain Equipment Company. ?

Mark the manager shouldn't be there, I suggest to him since he's ?manager ?to clean up the front of store because it is a positive example of outdoor life, he told me to send an Email and they will think about it. In other words he's too good to pick up trash outside too make Mec suitable for customer. Enjoy the day folks

I went to MEC to get guidance in choosing a proper harness as I am new to climbing. Mark was (very patient) and super helpful and knowledgeable in helping me find the proper fit! 10/10 would recommend getting help from him.

I recently had a great experience at MEC thanks to Gracie!!! She was extremely patient and professional, helping me resolve an issue with exceptional care. Gracie’s knowledge of the products and her attention to customer needs made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. I’m very grateful for her assistance, and I’ll definitely continue shopping at MEC in the future!

Low levels of stock in store meant that I had to order 2 lots of the same boots in online delivered to my house, just to try said boots on for sizing. When they eventually arrived (FedEx delivered them to the wrong address), both pairs of boots were without tags & judging by their soles had clearly been worn. The size that fitted were seconds (the left boot was actually visibly misshapen & felt weird), they shouldn't have made it out of the factory & they certainly shouldn't have been repackaged & mailed-out by MEC. When I tried to discuss this with the sales person in store, he just said that the online depot staff are busy. Ordered a pair of said boots from Breathe online (their Calgary store didn't have a size 10 either), they arrived a couple of days later, the boots were new with tags & $90 cheaper than MEC since they were on sale. And Breathe is a locally owned business out of Edmonton.
Past few visits to MEC in store are getting closer to the experience that I used to enjoy here several years ago before the board of directors screwed things up and sold the much loved cooperative to an American venture capitalist company. However, the quality of MEC branded goods today has taken a nose dive - best avoided :(

Staff have expert product knowledge and are willing to spend time with you to ensure you purchase the correct item for your activity, ability level, and fit. Also have a good return policy if there is an issue with your purchase.

The customer service was top shelf. A returned item was not seen as a bother but rather a pleasant experience.

MEC sold me a used Garmin Fenix 8 with the packaging already opened! I should have checked it right away! Now I have to drive all the way to that awful downtown MEC again! Who's going to compensate me for my gas and time?! Be careful, everyone!

Came in to look for a daypack/light hiking pack and they had a nice selection. Mark was very helpful in finding me a perfect fit with all the specs I needed!

I bought the feelfree kayak from here and took it down the river maybe 3-4 times before it sprang a leak in the “dry” compartment, which in turn soaked my phone and my backpack full of dry clothes. Called MEC and they told me to bring it in - at the time of the incident it was within a year of owning the boat but I was not able to bring it in until later because of work. When I brought it in, they said their boat expert was not there so a lady came out and looked at it. She said it looked “well used” and that “boats get holes in them”. She also said they could repair it but she wouldn’t do so. If you’re buying a kayak a) do not buy from MEC, or at least this location and b) do not buy the feelfree kayak.
