Went here tonight for a couple things and spotted an older man opening sealed baked goods and just eating them. Informed a staff member by the meats and she went into the back so I told another guy. In the end 3 people came out and the guy was clearly chewing and was headed back to the same area when they asked me what he was opening. I went over with them and there was a container clearly opened and a couple other containers had their security seals opened. They told me there was not much they could do and gave the guy the obviously opened container, not sure what they said to him but I asked them if they were going to check the other packages on the shelf, they just kind of shrugged their shoulders and walked away even tho I told them he was opening other packages. I literally watched him and even said something to him.
When I paid for my items, I was the Karen and asked to speak to the manager. They called her over the intercom but after waiting a few minutes, I had to go chase her down. She told me she was the night supervisor or something along that line. I told her what happened, including staff not checking the other packages on the shelf that were opened but not as obvious as the package they gave the guy. She said unless security caught them, not much they could do. I asked if I could go thru and just open and eat whatever I wanted. She said no, that I'd be banned, so I asked how this guy was allowed? She didn't have an answer. I asked if they had security there and she told me there was no security tonight. I was told they'd just write it off as a loss... Ok, this is part of the reason grocery prices are high, no?? 🤦🏻♀️🙄
We're all paying exorbitant grocery prices and the fact they couldn't be bothered to do anything, even to go thru the shelves to see whatever else was opened just turned me right off. Not to mention just letting this guy walk off with what he opened. When I buy something, I expect it to be safe and unopened but these people couldn't be bothered. I will absolutely not go back to this store. The way staff handled it was disgraceful and I was made to feel like the bad guy? I'll sooner go to the Sobeys up the road, bit more expensive but at least they have security at all times and staff are more responsive, or I'll just go out of the area altogether to do my shopping, but yeah, definitely won't be back.
Plus the produce is always bad quality....

Terrible Experience at No Frills!
I recently purchased a pack of cookies from No Frills on December 27, 2024, only to discover later that the product had already expired on December 18, 2024. When I returned to the store to request a refund, I was told I needed the receipt, which I had unfortunately misplaced. However, I provided proof of payment, which they could have easily verified in their system. As someone who has worked as a cashier at Safeway, I know this process is entirely possible, but they refused to assist me.
To make matters worse, when I decided to purchase a new pack from their current inventory, I found that the products being sold at that time were also expired. I brought this issue to the supervisor’s attention, and their response was shocking—they claimed it was not their responsibility.
This level of negligence and lack of accountability is completely unacceptable. Selling expired products and refusing to take responsibility puts customers’ health at risk. I’ve attached photos for proof, and I hope this review serves as a warning to others. No Frills needs to address these serious issues and improve their customer service.

Since I have to go in here for my wife’s fudgsicles which is the one thing I buy here lol, I really think it would be hilarious if a huge groups of people showed up with their backpacks. As always, rude staff and terrible produce, make sure you buy something with preservatives if you shop here.
I truly believe you have a moral obligation to steal from this store. If you wear a backpack around - regardless of looks ie clearly college student not homeless they’ll request you leave it at Till 7, which is often not manned. Like I’m going to leave my backpack full of college textbooks worth good money at an unmanned till in forest lawn. Also, I remember growing up there was this great concept take a penny or leave a penny for when you are just a little bit short for your bill, for places like the grocery store or gas store and I often left Pennies growing up - it’s too bad I grew up into a world full of cheap bastards, because I’ll never get those Pennie’s back. 6.49 for butter is already a rip off so it makes sense I was short. The cashier also couldn’t do the very basic transaction of taking the butter off and making change, displaying how clearly that she was either brand new or a nepotism hire. A cashier should be able to make change. Oh and god forbid you want to know where something is - they will be disgruntled about being asked a question about their job, during the shift lol
Anyways moral of the story I should have walked out of the store with that butter, Merv probably makes millions I’m sure he could spare the dollar.

No Frills is Awesome. The staff are friendly, the prices are fantastic and the selection is pretty decent . It is my main destination for groceries. I go to the co-op because no frills was closed but left with nothing , their prices were outrageous sure they will carry my groceries out to my car but that hardly worth extra money i have to spend on groceries .
