The staff are pretty helpful, and so is the manager. This review is for one of the groomers who work there.
I took my dog there for the first time to be groomed, and the groomer working at the time barely gave me a chance to speak. She was extremely rude in talking, completely dominating the conversation. My dog is pretty nervous when it comes to being groomed and he doesn’t like strangers randomly picking him up. This lady all of a sudden reached for my dog, and he snapped. He growled at her and bared his teeth, but he did not bite. She then proceeded to take my dog BY THE COLLAR and yanked it repeatedly, telling him to stop. My dog was shaking by the end of that horrible interaction. I confronted her, and she told me that he needs to be corrected & that she has been grooming dogs for 35 years or whatever. If she has been grooming dogs for that long, then she should know that it doesn’t help the dog become more comfortable with grooming if she uses outdated, aggressive methods for correcting behaviour. Mind you, she did not ask me if there were any areas in which he was uncomfortable with getting groomed, and where she should be cautious, nor did she give me a chance to speak. Arrogant and idiotic
If she was comfortable enough to treat my dog like that in front of me, I can’t imagine how she would have treated him if I was not there. Disgusting. I obviously cancelled my appointment. Definitely would not recommend the grooming services at this location.

The staff, owner and groomers are incredibly friendly. I had a calamity of errors one morning, and they were beyond helpful. They are always cheerful, knowledgeable and quick to help! Love this place!

I just wanted to ask if they had any live fishes for my aquarium and the lady there had such a big attitude she was talking to me like she did not want to be there and cut the phone on me mid call saying ok bye.. like have some customer service.

I like this outlet over the others!
Raj, a staff at Pet Valu Royal Oak made it so much easier for me as my senior cat is so picky and refusing certain kinds of food. He talked me through a few options over the next 3 visits.
Because of Raj's epic customer service, I would recommend this outlet to anyone needing the extra empathy and understanding.

I usually have a great experience every time I come to this location, which is pretty often! I am a single mom who runs a business and has a busy schedule almost everyday. Today was pretty rough and long; I rushed to the shop to make sure my dog would have food in the morning. I showed up at 8:30, and as soon as I walked in I felt the negative energy. I never felt so unwelcome walking into a store. The lack of acknowledgment was unreal to me. Especially since I always come there and most are usually so welcoming! I have never seen this particular employee though. As someone who also works in customer service, I understand we all have bad days, but it’s important making every customer feel valued and appreciated, regardless of personal circumstances or bad days. Despite my tough day, I still made an effort to keep a positive attitude, but the employee's energy made it difficult. It is important to remember that customers are people too, and we never know what they may be going through. In the end, I was grateful that I was able to get what I needed for my dog, but the poor customer service left a lasting negative impression.

We only use this place if we have to. Not the best experiences here, and selection is poor on some things. No savings here like other places. The dog wash person was not very friendly when asking about services.

I love Pet Valu. I get excellent service, they have a large assortment of products, and the prices are very competitive. Many are simply lower than the competition. I highly recommend this store.
