Safeway Pharmacy Downtown is one of my favorite spots for regular grocery shopping:
• Consistently high quality
Whether it’s fresh produce, meat, or ready-made meals – everything is always top-notch and reliable.
• Slightly higher prices, but worth it
Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than discount stores, but I’m happy to pay extra for peace of mind and consistently fresh, high-quality products.
• Polite and professional staff
Most of the time, the staff are extremely courteous, helpful, and professional. There have been minor issues here and there (like short delays at checkout), but nothing critical or deal-breaking.
• Great loyalty program
I’ve been using my Safeway card regularly and have already collected around $20 in rewards. It’s a nice bonus that makes coming back even more rewarding.
• Convenient location with a built-in pharmacy
Having both groceries and a pharmacy under one roof is super convenient, especially when I need to quickly grab meds or personal care products.
Bottom line:
If you value consistent product quality, polite service, and earning rewards while shopping, Safeway Pharmacy Downtown is a solid choice. I really enjoy shopping here and highly recommend it!

Had to use the public restroom would never use them here. So dirty and Unsanitized. Never thought Never thought Safeway would be like this. Wow

The manager of this safeway was so nice, I had some issue and she sort that out for me with the smiley face, she was so kind and nice .

Terrible pharmacy. Some of the staff are careless, they didn’t call me (twice not once) when a very urgent prescription has been shipped to them despite it was written:attention pharmacist, and my phone number was there. Moreover, a careless person told me on phone when I called: it’s not shipped yet, although it was just 3 feet away from him.I recommend avoiding dealing with this pharmacy at all.

I was able to get my Covid & Flu shot while I picked up some groceries. The takeout variety is just GREAT! All sorts of food to take home, warm it up, no fuss, after working all day. One less item to worry about. The rest of the store is so well organized you don't have a problem finding your groceries.

I've been going to this pharmacy for years, had a few years break when I moved to a different area and now I'm back with them. They have always been the best pharmacy to handle my prescriptions, which have confused many other pharmacies. They have been amazing at working with me to ensure I have the meds I need, even when I forget to book with my Dr for a refill until I'm out. They remember my name and on the rare occasions that they have messed up or forgotten one of my prescriptions they are great at getting it done ASAP. COVID has made them a lot busier, but they are definitely my favorite pharmacy in Calgary.

They say they have a prescribing pharmacist, and make you wait to see them, just for the prescribing pharmacist to say they're not comfortable doing a prescription....

It doesn’t matter what your prescription is, but always make you come back in half an hour. Exept for one lady there, the rest don’t care. I’ll move my business to COOP. At least they have excellent reviews.

Physician here, pharmacist made a prescription error and phone number online or website is not working. Irresponsible management. Needs to have direct access line for physicians. Fix ASAP.

I used to like this pharmacy because I felt that pharmacists really cared about patients. However, now it’s different. I came to pick up my pills and on of workers said that they having troubles with receiving prescriptions. She suggested to come next day. So, I came next day. Then another worker told me that my doctor needed to call because fax is not working. I wish I knew! Then problem will be solved. It’s pretty understandable that something may not work, but I still believe that if I will have full info ride a way I will not waste my time waiting for nothing. Unfortunately, some people in this pharmacy doesn’t care that you will receive your medication now or in a week( even if you need it urgent). So, I felt unwanted patient...They don’t really care.I can suggest Coop downtown pharmacy, because people there always friendly and helpful there.I probably will come beck there
