Why do people keep supporting this place? Seriously. In my opinion, it’s pretty obvious they source animals from puppy mills—just try asking for breeder names or credentials. Spoiler: you won’t get them. Puppy mills don’t exactly come with résumés. And honestly, when’s the last time anyone saw a genuine purebred in here? Reputable breeders don’t mix their dogs like that.
Second: the prices. Absolutely wild. And half the products on the shelves look like they’re on life support, either outdated or about to be.
Third: the customer service. Hands down the worst I’ve ever experienced. It’s almost impressive how consistently bad it is.
Take one look at their online ratings—tell me that doesn’t scream run for your life. Please, stop supporting this mess of a store. Adopt a rescue instead.
And don’t even get me started on their novel-length “explanations” to past reviewers. Equal parts hilarious and tragic. Maybe try an ounce of professionalism? The grammar alone is a jump scare—perfectly matching their in-store experience. Shocking!
Bottom line: stop supporting puppy mills. Stop supporting this store. Full stop

Please do not support this business, please ensure you can always meet the puppies parents and litter buddies. I asked to meet the parents of one puppy but heard nothing back. This is a major indication that these puppies have been sourced unethically. Please purchase your forever friend from a reputable breeder.

One specific staff was VERY disrespectful throughout our process of purchasing a puppy in which he is now in good hands and home by me and my girlfriend. Anyways as I was talking to this individual, I was trying to inquire a lot of information as to how the process is and how the ifinance worked. Through the phone, I could clearly sense her annoyance towards me by my 10 thousand questions, and obviously I am going to ask a LOT since this was a very big purchase. In short she ended up hanging up on me after confronting her about her attitude and how she was not being very helpful in the situation. I called back and another staff picked up and from that point I wanted to file a complaint about that previous staff's behaviour. Later on, I found out that, that individual had actually been the owner, which made a lot more sense because she felt like she had the power to do so and no obligation to carry on the conversation because she "ran" the place. I will give credit to the rest of the staff for being polite and helpful with me and carried her end of the bargain as she clearly is not and should NOT be in any position at all, where she's running and owning a place where Customer Service is a BIG factor. PLEASE be mindful of this individual and her behaviour as she DOES not care about you and is all about the money that she's getting from your wallet. She is very lucky that me and my girlfriend still proceeded with this transaction because we fell in love with our now 8 month old puppy. We do not support this puppy laundering or puppy mill; we see this purchase instead, as saving one precious little puppy out of the many behind those glass windows. This is a very late review but I just wanted to bring this to the person who ever is reading this attention. We never got her name because I am sure that she got her staff covering for her but she is a fairly tall lady with a brunette hair and definitely on the BIGGER side of the scale. If i was mistaken her name would probably be KAREN based on her actions.

We looked at 3 dogs during our visit and all were scared shaking and didn’t move. The man who helped us with the puppies seemed very ill informed as he went back multiple times to check details about the puppy. Overall, any place that keeps puppies in glass cages surrounded by their own pee etc without any room to run around as a puppy would is inhumane and cruel. Letting them out of their cage to sit with a human when they are already scared of humans is wrong and anybody can see that. These people do not care about the health of their dogs and would rather have an unhealthy neglected dog sell for an absurd price to help their pockets and egos. It’s a miracle they’re still open as this is clearly animal cruelty.

Puppies are kept in extremely cramped and tiny glass cages. They look like they’re dead inside. We held two of them and they both did not move an inch nor play. One of them cried for about 15 minutes. This place is the epitome of animal cruelty — owners and workers should be ashamed. The place smells terrible and workers clearly don’t clean up after the dogs. There are about 4 puppies locked in each cage either A) lying down not moving for unthinkable amounts of time or B) trying to escape the glass cage that they’ve been locked in (again, for unthinkable amounts of time). The fact that this store is still able to remain open is proof of Alberta regulation committees being corrupt. As tempting as it is to free a puppy from a tiny cage that they sit in all day, do not support a business that exploits and quite frankly tortures animals for profit.

Took home Chip about a month ago, the staff were very helpful and puppies looked cared for. The smell of cleaning products is very distinct when walking in and it is a bit jarring to see all the pups if you haven’t been to a pet store in a long time but either than that the puppies get their play times and everyone was helpful and friendly! The free vet check up definitely proves that the pups are in good health and up to date on their shots.

Amanda was amazing from the time we stepped foot into the store until we took our sweet puppy home. She made us feel welcome and accommodated our needs. We are so happy with our experience at The Top Dog store and love our new pup!

From our experience I didn't see anything wrong. Ive been looking everywhere for a store that actually has puppies because I'm from the states and I'm used to seeing puppies in a store. However, they just passed along Las Vegas that doesn't allow pet stores to sell puppies anymore. After searching Google maps because my daughter wanted to go see puppies, we found this place and the puppies are happy regardless of how you feel. The puppies should be housed. I did not see one single sad pup in that store and that's what matters. The people there are very friendly and helpful. This is definitely where I will be getting my new puppy when I am ready. By the way, they do have financing available and they also have sales regularly from what I was told. Btw puppies in the glass area are taken out regularly. Remember puppies need a lot of rest and are supposed to spend most of their time sleeping.
