TL;DR Don’t get scammed by Trail Tire, they will up charge you without telling you. Take your business elsewhere. If you do give them your business, cross reference what they are charging you with what’s on their website.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Trail Tire for a few years now, and I was scammed today at a simple oil change appointment.
I spoke to Peter who advised me that my oil change was going to cost $160 (with a $5 discount coupon I had from my last service). I brought my own (genuine parts) oil filter to use for this oil change, and Peter refused to use it because he did not want to lower the price of the oil change. I made my peace with this cost and proceeded with dropping off my car and oil filter for the oil change, and signed the invoice.
When I left, I thought $160 was pretty expensive for an oil change, but it’s been a year since I had one, so I thought perhaps inflation. I consulted their website which showed that a Basic synthetic oil change is $119+tax. This is when I realized that Peter deceived me and up charged me to their Premium synthetic oil change ($149+tax) when I clearly asked for a basic oil change with synthetic oil. At no point in our initial drop-off conversation did I ever say that I wanted a premium oil change.
Upon picking up my car, I showed Peter their website with the cost of $119 for the basic synthetic oil change, and Peter followed by saying, “Yeah, it’s the synthetic oil change, it’s already done at $149, you looked at it and you signed it”. The $149 oil change package is their second premium tier, so he completely scammed me.
After arguing with Peter back and forth, he just kept repeating, “There’s not much I can do about it now.” Then I finally said that I will not be paying more than $119 for this oil change. He said, “Fine. I will charge you the $119.95, then we are done doing business, period end of story, take your business elsewhere.” Looks like there was something he could do about it…
What kind of place is willing to lose a loyal customer to gain $40...a business who probably scams most their customers a little bit each time, until they finally notice.

We were looking for tent trailer tires. After calling everyone is Red Deer we tried here. They had our tires ordered for delivery at there store today. And us in at about 2. We were out in the hour they promised. We're so helpful and nice. Such great service and super appreciated. ??

This location is very honest and they do good work, glad I found them and I will keep coming back.
I have been coming to this location for years now, even back when they were Blaskin and Lane. The same guys still work there after they became Trail Tire. Peter and Darren at the front counter are great to work with and we usually have a good laugh every time I come in. Any time I have a question about a repair they couldn't answer, they would bring the mechanic out who suggested the repair to explain it. I do a bit of work on my own vehicles and used to be a tow truck driver so I know a thing or two. I have tested them several times trying to see if they would lie or rip me off, even played really dumb to see if they would give miss information and at no point did they try to lie, salesman or rip me off. They are a bit more expensive than other shops I have been to however, I will pay a bit more for better people, honesty and better work over "cheaper" any day.

UNACCEPTABLE! You hear about the dishonesty in the automotive industry but to witness the blatant dishonesty from this location is absolutely disgusting. Conning a young lady by telling her the vehicle must have synthetic oil only is a blatant lie. I owned this vehicle for years prior, and never once put synthetic oil in it......a whopping $400 bill for an oil change...you should be ashamed of yourselves. A complaint to the Better Business Bureau is in the works!

very bad online booking system, no confirmation, no calling back, no reminder, nothing... you thought you booked, but when you got there, they told you nothing was booked... just waste time and everything
