Too slow to deal with customers
-
August 2024 by Kev F
By far the hardest Scotiabank to deal with, either they create their own special rules to make their life easier. Or other branches are just will to put a little effort into helping their customers. Either way, i will be reducing the amount of Scotiabank products due to how hard this branch is to deal with.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Paul today. I have to say, he was wonderful. Probably the best in-person customer experience I have had with a bank. While I may have been there to deal with another matter, Paul's professionalism, courtesy, and effective communication has made me consider bringing my business to Scotia in its entirety. Good customer service is so hard to come by these days.

I recently noticed a hold on my Scotiabank account, so I contacted Scotia Support. They advised me to reach out to my home branch, but l was not near it at the time. Instead, they provided me with the branch's contact information. When I called the branch, I was informed they wouldn't be available until May 22nd. Nevertheless, I sent an email and the hold was promptly removed.
I also contacted Justin, the branch manager, and left him a voicemail. A few hours later, Justin returned my call. He expresse surprise that I had opened an account with a foreign passport and found it odd that I had an Ontario number while living in Alberta. I explained that I knew people in Alberta who had lived there for 20 years and had phone numbers from different provinces. Despite my explanation, he insisted it was suspicious.
He then pointed out that my address was at an RV park, which he claimed was also suspicious. I provided him with my P.O. Box address, but he questioned how I managed to open a bank account with a foreign ID, noting that Canadian ID or proof of citizenship is typically required. I countereo by asking how people open Swiss bank accounts, which don't require proof of residency. i've open many banks in Canada and broad, and l've never had this problem before this is the first when I also checked the government website it says nowhere about needing to prove residency
Justin further questioned why I had opened my account in BC. I explained that I was traveling there and, after failing to open an account online, I went to a branch where they assisted me. He found this suspicious as well and, throughout our conversation, seemed to be condescending.
When I tried to make a transfer and found my account on hold again, I emailed Justin.
He confirmed the hold and said I needed to provide proof of address and proof of residency in person since a P.O. Box wasn't acceptable. Despite being a Canadian resident, I didn't see the need to waste time providing proof that wasn't required when opening bank Account

It's banking... so I'll never be able to give 5 stars. But I will have to say, even with the computer upgrades this location was undergoing and the transformation to paperless, the amount I was able to do in 2 hours with the business division was outstanding! Special shout out to Billy. I didn't have an appointment and he was able to make time to go through so many options and found a pretty kickass solution for my biz. I was only going into drop paperwork off, but he wanted to ensure that I had all the information needed. He was a great advisor, and was able to answer some of my more ridiculously complex questions. He also provided more insight to how some banking practices have changed over the years. I'm pretty satisfied with scotia, but mainly, the people at the branch were what stood out. Febe was also a delight!

I had a horrible experience today. As, I asked them to deposit my cheque urgently as I needed it for my pending bills. The reply from them was they can't do anything it will take 5 business days. So, it does not matter to go to the bank for urgent work because they are just providing the services which we can do online. Then For what they are there ??

Our experience from dealing with Mohammed for a mortgage preapproval for our son, was very thorough as i wanted my my son to be part of the whole process. We had some minor issues dealing with the help line, however Justin Lalonde, the Branch manager, assisted us immediately. Justin has always been willing to answer any questions and assist us which is very much appreciated .

About 6 months ago I booked appointment with a financial advisor named Chris unfortunately I forget his last name and can't find it now but I will . Long story short he is an absolute narcissistic self serving fill in the blanks ..he has given me the worst financial advice possible so much so that it destroyed my hard earned credit score. I can't believe I believed a single word that came out his mouth. So thank you Chris you singhandedly hurt a young entrepreneurs success I hope that make you happy!
