This is a very clean, very posh kind of grocery store. I took off a star because last time we tried to eat here, it didn't work out.
It's smaller than either a Sprouts or Trader Joe's and has its own style. Like a place your Nana would go to make you a care package, and then take you when you come to visit.
Y'know, if your Nana retired to play in the Arizona sun. (Mine didn't)
The deli, bakery, café, floral area, and sushi bar are each of excellent quality. Overall, my favorite feature is the selection.
They have lots of imported options for shmancy spa bath time, as well as many local items. Sonoran Desert honey, Indigenous flowers, craft beers and wine. Even seafood like crab dip, ceviche, and lobster tails.
They also have wine, cider, beer, mead, and seltzers far more specialized than the options at a standard grocery. The pricing is a bit higher than Total Wine in many cases. By contrast, the sit-down options at AJ's are plentiful; if you're a person with the time to enjoy sunshine while you run errands, you may prefer it.

We ordered a holiday meal in advance only to arrive at our assigned pick up time and be told “sorry, we don’t have what you ordered.”
Merry Christmas.

High price grocery store, but great selection of food for lunch and ice teas and coffee. The patio cafeteria is a good deal as well

Was in the meat department at 9 30 Saturday. No one at the counter stood for 7 minutes and a store worker walked by and asked if we had been helped yet. She went into back section and got a youn black man to help us. Asked if any of the prime t bones had some filet on them he said no and if they did they would be called a porterhouse. I asked if he had two prime porterhouse. He answered that he was not going to all that trouble to cut for just two steaks.

December 2024 by Zachran’s Seasoning Spices
AJ Fine Foods refused to let Zachran’s New Orleans Louisiana Cajun Spices a black owned business in thier grocery stores because of racism and discrimination also stereotyping against zachran’s because we’re a black owned spice company. I don’t recommend this grocery store for minorities they don’t deserve any stars.

Normally AJ's has excellent produce but the day I visited was not that day. Moldy mushrooms and sad fruits. Maybe the produce manager was off sick?

I got the salad bar tonight and it took going to three different cash registers in the store for someone to do their job and notice me so that I could pay. Unfortunately I started to cry because on top of everything else I lost my credit card and the cash register lady started laughing at me. I couldn't believe it. I told her to stop laughing at me and she said she wasn't laughing at me. I told her she was and to please stop and then I just left the store. Also I had dropped my dressing and cleaned it up myself because no one cared and every employee walked past me and didn't seem to care. What an experience here

Quality in the bakery depth seems to have gone down. I have been buying the same cake in the last 10 years and never had a problem. Only this year, I was handed a cake that looked so sloppy. Berries looked mashed and moldy. Come on, put some effort into what you do. Obviously, management is not setting quality standards and not providing training. I did get my money back, but we were very disappointed.

Wonderful store, avoid the tuna salad.
Clean, organized, great staff. Great selection!
My only disappointment was the tuna salad—it had very tough pieces (of what I think were the green parts of leeks) that could not even be chewed! Note: GMO veggies tend to have tough skins, and if that was not the case, please check the veggies before you ruin a nice salad. It was very bad. I love the store and will try other products. I will edit this post if management responds.
