I usually take pleasure shopping at Safeway 1060 E Ray Rd. Chandler. On July 19th I went to purchase meat at the deli. The deli male staff was very indignant and disrespectful. I went in to get chicken breast that was on sale and I stood waiting for over 4 minutes while the employee was unpacking goods behind me. He then went in and got chicken breast and put in on the counter (without asking me what I wanted). I was confused as I thought the items were for someone else. I asked the Employee if the items were for someone else and he said "that's how they are packed take it or leave it". I think that I will shop elsewhere.

Clean store, friendly staff, food worth buying. I do only come for the deals... so I don't spend more than $60 a week here.

I stop here often for coffee at the Starbucks inside, for my winter eucalyptus plants, and to grab light lunches when on a time crunch.Derek at the customer service counter is my buddy as, he's always so polite, we have great conversations and small talk whenever I'm there to purchase a scratcher. Hey DThe deli area is my go to for the tiny ribs, chicken wings, a scoop of potato salad and Hawaiian rolls. They have the ribs and chicken freshly made in the center of you arrive early enough honestly very good and seasoned perfectly which caught me off guard. My next stop is produce where everything is neat and well taken care of. I purchase the pineapples since I'm addicted to pineapple. They often have a sale on pineapple, cantaloupe and other bowls. Checkout is easy and fast because I've never really had to wait in line here, but again, I only usually go early enough to not have to wait. On my way out of the store I stop to say hi to my 2 fav bankers at the bank located inside. Hey guys This location is my favorite because of its cleanliness, easy free parking, location, products and staff. I also love that they DON'T have a RODENT box sitting outside the front doors, like the other Safeway stores that I refuse to step foot in... There's no shopping karts roaming around that you have to get out of your car to move out of the way, in order to park either. Shoutout to Management at this location for taking great care of it!

Safeway is our usual grocery store. They always have great produce and (almost) everything we need. The pharmacists are also great! This particular review is for Saturday, 1/14/23. I came in around 9:30 to pick up a cake I had ordered for my mom's birthday - she is visiting from out of state. There were hardly any patrons in the store, but there were lots of employees stocking. Almost all of them greeted me and said hello! Everyone was so friendly!! The cake was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I originally planned on getting a regular cake, but when I saw the chocolate peanut butter one, I knew it would be perfect for my mom. The only reason I am giving four stars is because of the consistently not-friendly or attentive bakery employees. I stood there for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me with so much as a glance. There were three employees up there. This happened when I placed my order as well. Someone was picking up a cake, so I got in line behind them, then when they left, the employee helping them turned around and didn't acknowledge there was someone else standing there.

Bait and switchway strikes again... Conveniently never having the on sale meat in stock even on the morning an add comes out... Oh surprise! The signage is there but conveniently for them the same meat in boneless... Not on sale and $8/lb more expensive is in its place. It seems to be a thing at most Switchways....

The deli staff were both indignant and disrespectful. Went in for fried chicken- two customers were being served and when one customer was done the employee helping them went off to the back and left me standing there to wait for the other employee to finish before helping me. There were two other employees in the back and another woman putting merchandise on the refrigerated area right next to the deli- NONE of them helped. For like 5 minutes. When I said something about the crappy service I was getting they started YELLING at me and told me to shut up and wait for my turn. I have NEVER seen such unprofessional and sad employee behavior in any store. The lady employee was the worst - she actually tried to tell me it was my fault for having a bad attitude and then just walked off. The old guy that was yelling then threatened me if I didn't leave. What is wrong with you people? Someone needs to tell these people that CUSTOMERS are more important than the potato wedges they are putting out because that is all that the guy was doing. I've read other reviews of this place - all were just as bad. I just wanted the fried chicken deal - never again!

The store never recovered post-Covid from staffing issues. They are regularly closing areas of their business early or completely for days at a time. Currently, you cannot get anything from the deli or any of the fried chicken area items. I asked the customer service team about it and they just kind of say yeah we've had some problems. This is my neighborhood Safeway but I am ready to give up on them.

I’m sick and tired of grocery stores allowing dogs ( non service) dogs just to walk around stores. This is unsafe and unsanitary. I will start reporting this . This is a health and safety violation.

After 25+ years grocery shopping at Safeway (1060 E Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ 8522), I'm finished. I doubt I'll ever return. I'll make the drive to the Frye's at Cooper and Warmer. Here's why.Overall, the store has gone downhill tremendously, especially during 2021. Not only has the quality of fresh foods being sold declined sharply, but worse, customer service declined even more.A few months ago, I entered the store at 7am and conducted my shopping. With a full cart, and multiple other shoppers trying to check-out, every check-out line was unstaffed. I had to self-checkout, as did others. with nearly full carts, while several cashiers were standing around talking and laughing amongst themselves, right in front of the manager's office.Try checking out a full cart, within the small confines of the self-serve checkout area. It took four times longer than if a cashier could "break-away" from their discussion and assisted customers with full, or nearly full, shopping carts. This has happened on several occasions and was fairly irritating, especially as I know the two of the three employees chatting away were cashiers.Prior to that event, on a different visit, I asked for help locating a very common product, sold by every grocery store, everywhere, because I couldn't locate it. I was told where the item was located, but it wasn't there. I was then told it was in a different aisle by another employee. It wasn't in that aisle either. I then asked the manager where I might find this item, He gave me another aisle to check. Guess what? Not there. So I went back to him, and said I still couldn't find it and asked "Could you find it for me?" He sent two employees out to search the store. It took almost 15 minutes to locate the elusive... Cheese Whiz. I made two laps searching the entire grocery store for this item, was misdirected by three employees, one of them a manager, and it still took them almost 15 minutes to find a container of... Cheese-Whiz.Two months ago, I needed just five or six grocery items, so I stopped off at Safeway. No baskets were available at the front door. I walked down the entire line of checkout lanes looking for a basket. None to be found. I asked an employee: "Where can I find a basket - I only need a few items?" She replied: "We don't have any more". I asked what happened to them and she replied: "We don't have any. People take them home".Just yesterday morning (Christmas Day, 2021), I was in Safeway for a few last minute items. Same thing. No baskets. I asked Kevin if there were any baskets around. Without even looking at me, he replied "No".I'm sorry Kevin had to work Christmas Day. I really am. But he wouldn't even look at me and provided a terse one word reply. So I guess that's it. No more hand-held baskets at Safeway... because "people take them home"? Has the idea of "order more baskets" been considered? Who knows? If unstaffed cashier checkout lanes, employees not knowing where common items can be located, employees not assisting customers with full carts by keeping checkout lanes closed thereby forcing self-checkout is something you enjoy, the Safeway at 1060 E. Ray Road in Chandler) is the place to go.While there are some outstanding employees at this Safeway (like Amanda and Georgia), there's also almost a kind of DISDAIN for customers at this particular Safeway (Store Number 1605) that is becoming more and more pervasive among it's employees, like Kevin.Whoever ultimately owns this store is not being well-served by the management staff in place. How do I know this?Well, after 25+ years of shopping there, I'm grocery shopping elsewhere. That's how I know.

It was me. Old and tired I was looking for candied ginger for my daughter. I didn't do any further shopping as I hunted for it. Up and down each aisle. After maybe 8-10 minutes and being disappointed I ran into what "appeared " to be a lower level employee sopping up a spill she had secured so no one would get hurt. ( yes I've worked with the public she SECURED the area ) I said I didn't have my glasses on and could she please direct me to the candy section as I was looking for candied ginger. When she looked up through her mask I saw two tired eyes with dark rings underneath. The natural tattoos of people who work hard long hours for little pay. I said just point me in the right direction. She did. I looked and looked but did not find it. THEN!!!!! Her name is "City?sp" and here she comes from ACROSS THE STORE with candied ginger. You see. One gives DIGNITY to the work they do. She had pride in her knowledge of the store and an inate desire to "help people". I told the manager about City but now I want to tell everyone because in a time when we are afraid to get close to people this lady saw a need and filled it. She was kind to an elderly person who sometimes feels alone and was seen as a human being. Thank you City. I know this sounds strange but at that time. At that place. You did good. Thank you. You are now a part of my brain's permanent memory. Merry Merry Christmas

I didn't shop location but I did visit the Starbucks stand inside the Safeway. With that said its your typical location with everything you need presented in a nice way. Its clean, there is a lot of parking and prices are only slightly expensive.

Staff here are polite. The store is clean. The problem: self-checkout.You absolutely should NOT be using self-checkout. You're not only paying for your items but YOU ARE WORKING FOR FREE with no discount. Unless you enjoy going back to being a toddler in kindergarten playing "grocery store" with your sisters/brothers, go to a checkout stand with a living person. Support people and jobs rather than worrying about helping Safeway line their pockets.

Ok so this was by far the best experience I had for a curbside pickup. First and foremost big shout out to the worker Aiden. I actually thought he was a manager when I talked to him on the phone haha Let me tell you why! I wanted to call in to make sure that everything I ordered was there; because I had some replacement items. I was very nervous about the replacement items because tbh I have really bad allergies and I did not want to have an allergic reaction to anything. So Aiden read me the replacement items, spent time on the phone so I could make sure everything was there and he was so thorough and patient with me as well that I could not believe when I called to pick up my items it was a young guy working. So when I came to pick up the order I was surprised it was a young kid. I even asked him "hey dude are you a manager or something?" And no, he's just another hard working young kid even during these times helping out customers like myself. He even spent a few min talking to me before loading items because tbh it's been stressful right now and while I got my friends, coworkers, and even family to talk to I haven't had much just human interaction likeNormal since Covid is going on. So SAFEWAY CORPORATE or MANAGEMENT I don't know what y'all do but at least give this kid a raise, employee of the month or a Safeway select rotisserie chicken to take home Ok now for people that are living in these stressed times that need some help and wanting to do a curbside pickup and not have to go into the store. It is super super easy. Hop on the Safeway app, if you got iPhone in the App Store, Android in google play store and search "Safeway Delivery and pickup". Then download it. From there it'll show what location near you that has pickup and then you add items in the basket. You set a pickup time, usually a window so for me I did (7pm-8pm) last night, place items you want in card, add coupons (which you'll see what I mean in the app), and then place order. Just a heads up, the order is finalized. Gives the workers like Aiden the time to put your order in the baskets and make sure you get what you need. Then when order is ready you'll get a text and or email and you will be able to pickup. And they are quick af haha Because I literally placed the order the night before and they had it ready for me. Then you drive when order is confirmed and and pull up to a pickup bay. It'll have the number on there to call and a Safeway employee will come to your car and load in your trunk as well. So that's how it works I hope it helps people seeing this. In summary Aiden was the man and I see the kid going places and how to do a curbside.
