About Canyon de Chelly National Monument Welcome Center
Canyon de Chelly National Monument is a beautiful and amazing area with a wonderful, spectacular landscape. It features a magnificent canyon, dramatically deep areas, and mind-boggling ancient cliff dwelling ruins. Visitors enjoy walking and exploring, with a picnic area available. It is very close to I-40 and is a must-see. To fully experience the old legends and the canyon, it is essential to book a Navajo guide. Be prepared for a tricky situation with rough roads, so dress warmly. Getting to Spider Rock before sunset is highly recommended for the view. The welcome center provides a restroom.

Be sure to book a Navajo guide, wonderful landscape, old legends, tricky situation today: the valley has been handed over into Navajo hands, but the bosses are not financing the road construction. Therefore: dress warmly and be prepared for a rough tour. Then it's great fun.

We are so glad we stopped to check out this area, it’s very close to I 40 so don’t drive by. We will be back to camp and explore this area more in the spring.

Make sure to get to the spider rock before sunset it shows just how dramatically deep this area is and the view is spectacular.
