“Outstanding service. Exceptional care. No wonder Buck’s Automotive Service was voted Best of Tucson 2025! Due to recently relocating to Tucson, I needed to find a good and honest auto mechanic. I went to my go-to source for reliable automotive repair service information; AAA. I searched for the closest AAA approved auto repair facility and found Buck’s Automotive Service Center. By chance I had just read about Buck’s in the “Best of Tucson 2025” and I also read the many positive reviews Buck’s had on the web. I took my car to Buck’s this morning for a routine oil & filter service/general once over. Not only did Dan's Toy Shop point out where another shop went wrong in fixing something, they also pointed out a couple other subtle things (felt during driving) that I also noticed but the Lexus dealership and another shop did not during a PPI. “My fiancé and I called Ed Taylor's Auto Clinic in a ditch effort to find a mechanic to look at a newly purchased used car I bought while visiting my brother in Tucson. The car I bought had its engine light turn on and started to chug very hard. Late in the day when we called, we were beyond happy to hear a pleasant voice that said they could take us in and inspect the car.

Lonni was the mechanic who answered our call and inspected the car. Upon arrival, Lonni took roughly 25-30 minutes to run tests on the car. When done, I was expecting to hear a list of problems that needed to be fixed. Much to my happy surprise, in that time, Lonnie not only correctly dignosed the problem with the car, he, in turn, had also fixed the two issues causing the major chugging and the engine light to come on.

In a time of panic and much distress, we couldn't have been more lucky to find this shop with the services provided and mechanics provided. In an industry with much distrust and fear of bad mechanics, Lonni and Ed Taylor bailed us out of a scary and bad situation and for a modest fee of services.

If we lived in Tucson, Ed Taylor and Lonni without a question of a doubt would be our go-to mechanic and shop after this experience. How incredible it is to be so lucky to find the best mechanic in town of a rush ditch effort for help.

“Aztec Transmissions was recommended to me by two good auto repair businesses I have used because they don’t have expertise for that portion of car repair. Call Aztec to make an appointment because they are busy and don’t have a lot of room for parking vehicles. When you pull up to Aztec on west Grant Road it quickly becomes obvious they don’t have a lot of overhead in a fancy office. From the small well used office you will get a glimpse through open doorways into the shop areas and after a couple minutes someone will be out to listen to the detail of your transmission problem symptoms. For about $100 they will do an in-depth test of your transmission, usually including driving and topping off transmission fluid if needed and based on that test, give an estimate for repairs. The first time I used them, they thought the problem might be a shift solenoid, but being as how mine was an old Volvo, the part would be very expensive and take weeks to arrive, their suggestion was just to continue to drive the car and hopefully the topping off of transmission fluid would make the difference. It did, no more problems until there was a different but intermittent noise problem in reverse gear, they thought might be transmission mounts but they were snug, no electronic codes gave clues and in their view the transmission didn’t have a major problem they could identify. So for the second time, Aztec sent me away for the cost of an inspection and test and didn’t try to talk me into an expensive repair. At some auto repair businesses if you bring in a car they will find something wrong, probably multiple somethings wrong and they will be expensive, but at Aztec I think you get an honest diagnosis. If I actually did need transmission repair, I am sure Aztec would do a good job at a fair price.”

“They will fix it if something not right after you get car back. Prices very reasonable. People often want freebies, but mechanics have to feed their families too. The only drawback is that lately getting parts takes awhile, but the job gets done properly. Have been going
here for almost 20 years. Used others when necessary, but they are our go to guys.”

“These guys are fantastic. I had allowed a jeep club member who was a “mechanic” to install my 4in lift kit on my Wrangler only to find he wasn’t a mechanic at all, just a service advisor that worked on Cherokees in his free time. Another club member stepped in to help me fix the cluster of problems. We started calling around and I was coached on what to say. I noticed that the prices were all very different from when he’d call and I’d call. Needless to say I was done entrusting all mechanics. Desperate to fix my problems, I called a mechanic that solely works with a private Jeep club and was given Rillitos number. As someone who wasn’t going to gain anything from me, I figured it would be ok to trust him. It was the right choice.

I take in my poor Jeep with a bump steer and shaking every time I stepped on the brake. The control arms were backwards and the nuts and bolts in general were loose. I needed an adjustable track bar. My steering wheel was literally turned sideways… It needed a really good tune up on the mess the other guy created. They took the time to ensure everything was installed correctly, tightened down, and realigned. Safe. Which is crazy important when you’re out on a trail with a three year old. The job was at a fair price.

Since, I’ve been back a few times for various things here and there. They’re always so kind. It’s always explained to me what happened and how they fixed it. They’re never annoyed with the 50 million questions I have. We always discuss other symptoms because it’s never ending (iykyk) and I’m always sent away with things to look for, feel for, and what to do for next steps.

This place is my go-to. My Jeep’s official doctor lol. I won’t go anywhere else.”
