The area features a mix of well-paved and dirt paths, making it suitable for various fitness levels and ages. The trail to the top of Thumb Butte is short but steep on one side, providing a good workout or a leisurely hike. Hikers can enjoy spectacular views, especially if they go off trail slightly to access the best viewpoints. Overall, Thumb Butte Recreation Area provides a scenic, enjoyable outdoor activity that combines exercise with breathtaking views of Prescott’s natural beauty.
It's a tough hike up if you are not in shape. But it has the most incredible views from the top. I enjoyed my time there.

Recreation park opens at 6 AM and parking is only five dollars which covers a whole day cost. It is wheelchair accessible for the picnic area and Ramadas of course. They’ve got 14 different hike trails and four different biking trails with pitstops everywhere along the middle so you can sit down and enjoy the view.

Challenging incline but short, 35 - 40 minutes if you're bookin', took me about an hour and 15 because I had to stop and talk to Ravens, veer off path to find heart rocks and had to stand by gawking at some climbers bouldering. excellent cardio! Beautiful views
