I went with the intention of buying some fish for my son's birthday. I had no knowledge and thought I would receive information in the store, but the employee told me to hurry up and ask the question and did not let me finish speaking and responded reluctantly.
I left the store without being able to buy anything. I do not want to think that it was discrimination for being Latina.

Taken our dog to petco many times. They said it would be 2 hours. They called me in 45 minutes. Groomer said she didn’t like the crate and was scratching it and they were afraid she would hurt her nails. After we rushed over we still didn’t get her for 15 more minutes. Was she groomed at all? Very strange and pricey. She did not smell clean. Won’t go there again. They appeared short handed.

I used to really like this Petco, but I’ve had numerous issues over time. I switched my dogs to the Wholehearted brand over two years ago, and things have gone smoothly since. The general manager and front-end employees are friendly, which I appreciate.
However, my experience with grooming has been disappointing. I booked a grooming appointment for 7 AM for the 24th. Sunday, I received a call from the grooming manager, and her attitude was unpleasant. When I called back to address the situation, I received a text informing me that my appointment had been canceled, with the excuse that they were “just doing their jobs.”
I also listened to a one-minute voicemail from the manager, and as irritated as she sounded making the call, I was equally irritated listening to it. Ultimately, I was blacklisted from using Petco’s grooming services – and honestly, that’s fine.
I would think twice before bringing my dogs here for grooming. If this is how customers are treated, I can only imagine how the dogs are handled during their appointments.
I understand the store is extremely busy, but I hope you hire someone with a better attitude.

Faithful Petco customer for five years (despite somewhat inconsistent service at various locations in three states); made our last visit at this Tempe location. Shame, we just moved here and live close. On average, we've spent $850-1K per year mostly on services.
Note: The lady who bathed our dog was kind enough, but store policies, pricing & enforcement have ended our relationship with Petco.
Our medium sized dog is 50 lbs, sometimes a pound more or less. On this visit, it was deemed that 50 or more lbs was large dog. So depending on day, we're supposed to get her weighed & she will be classified as medium or large for charges. Kind of ridiculous that a dog can be medium on one visit, but large a month later, then back to medium.
What's the difference you ask? We only get her a bath & nail trim. The difference on bath is $8 more on "large" dog. Can someone explain to me what extra effort or expenses are associated with this $8 increase (especially for a 1lb difference in weight)? Seems exorbitant & arbitrary. She's even a short haired dog, arguably much easier than small dog with long, matted hair.
Is it more shampoo? Wait! The charges already include $5 material fee. Must be all that extra water & manpower. Come on! She doesn't even get trim/shave, just bath & nails. I get it. For absolutely nothing, I get privilege of paying more for exact same dog, at exact same size she's always been.
Well congratulations. We gave you the extra $8 once, but will never return. I realize our $850-1K per year might not be much to Petco, but hope it was worthy exchange for $8.
How to turn faithful customer into vocal opponent in one easy step. Seriously.

My first and last time in this store. Multiple employees complaining loudly about how terrible petco is, have to say I agree with them!
Store is dirty, things are not put away and are IN the way of the products on the shelves, employees unpleasant and rude. There are better places to spend an absurd amount of money on pet food.
Edited to add: I went to the petsmart across the street the next time I needed food. It is much nicer. Bright and clean, large selection that you can actually get to.

I have had good customer experiences until today, I was waiting for 20 minutes while the employee was attending another customer, then It was my turn just to be told " Sorry we are closed for today please come tomorrow" . It was 6.30 PM Sunday. My daughter simply cried, she did not understood why the saleswoman could not sell us one Blue Gurami.
Please hire employees willing to work.

Bathroom was absolutely disgusting this is not just from one bad day this is from multiple times of neglect the ironic thing is that on the inside of the bathroom and on the stall door says a sign to let the team lead know if the bathrooms need cleaning.

Petco has signs posted about their low cost vaccination clinics on Sundays and the sign clearly says “walkins welcome.” What they aren’t telling you on the sign or anywhere in the store or on the website is that walkins are welcome to wait for all the appointments to finish up their business first before they consider treating your pet. Why doesn’t the sign say “appointments recommended” or am I supposed to know this automatically when I risk wasting my time standing in line? Walkins welcome is false advertising. I walked straight out the door and made an appointment with my vet which is probably better anyways. The prices that the people ahead of me were being charged didn’t seem low cost at all they seemed like standard vet prices. This place gets one star for me
Knowing now that I will never try this again. My pet deserves more.

I can’t really recommend Petco. The prices are extremely high, and they often rely on silly marketing tactics that can be quite off-putting. While I do sometimes go here to get the pet food I need when I’m in a bind, I generally prefer to shop online. The convenience and better pricing available online make it a more appealing option. It’s unfortunate because I’d love to support a local store, but the overall experience and cost at Petco just don’t make it worthwhile.

Lots of stuff but it's a little pricy. They do price match.
