This salon changed my life. I’m multiracial and the environment is incredibly welcoming. After being treated poorly at a different salon, Rare Essence said was a breath of fresh air.

UNPROFESSIONAL
1) i made an appointment for my daughter a week in advance for only 6 braids. i even showed the stylist a picture before we started and she agreed but only did four and upon finishing said she didn’t have time to do 6 and had to leave.
2) I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment the last 3 times i’ve been here..
your time and money isn’t taken into consideration here.. so there won’t be a 4th
3)Go somewhere else there are better places that don’t charge as much such as the (a new customer fee) they added just for mediocre work!

I received an interlock maintenance on my locs about two weeks ago.
The service itself was great. Attentive and personable.
The work on my locs was less than impressive based on how they looked immediately after the servicing and two weeks post.
They have been loose from day one - meaning they weren’t interlocked as tightly to the scalp as I’ve been getting them. They’re as loose as they were when I came in with over 8 weeks of growth on them now.
Additionally, they new interlocking was also twisted causing them to not be as clean as they have been prior. The service made them twist and bunch at the base. On top of that, they’re also letting go of a lot of hair that was part of the interlock.
I’ve been locking my hair since April of 2020 and have about 13 inches of growth - most of which is clean.
When asked if they provide any grooming (buzzing of the straight hairs for cleanup) I was met with confusion.
Good folks but there are stringers shops throughout the valley - I tried them out in an effort to stay on the east side.

Kim did a great job on a retwist for my son's locs both times that she's done his hair. Highly recommend!

They don't do loc extensions if you want them, very adamant about not doing them. They claim they want to do what's best for your hair. But what about what the customer wants. I think it's the matter of not wanting to take the time to install them. They should just say that instead.
