I am definitely happy and appreciative of the help and assistance this agency has provided to me. The reason why I have given them three stars is for a few things. Some of the staff need proper business professionalism when dealing with their clients. I have experienced times where I was told to bring in all certain documents. Then next thing you know they're asking for something else later on down the line. Another thing, a lot of time was wasted to where I was approved for assistance but the check didn't get sent in a prompt amount of time as promised. So that made more late fees accrue and landlord threatening to further the eviction process. I was also supposed to get additional assistance for this month of Feb(2024) but this was not provided to me within the timeframe for other funds to be available. I am a single parent that is voicing and advocating that they do a better service for the community than some of the things that I have experienced. I thank God and I am appreciative of some of the staff who have assisted me in making corrections with certain matters for me and my family.

Very sad how the management handled a situation where my pregnant friend had got evicted from her home with a 2 year old. We went to the office to seek help in rental assistance and they gave very dirty looks and made us feel very uncomfortable. They did not want to help my friend when she qualified for assistance. They were holding back a form that we needed to have the landlord fill out. I ask why they were holding back that form and they said they need to know for sure the landlord will fill it out, and we said how are we suppose to know they will fill it out if we don’t have the form… very unprofessional of them. Seems like a lot of judgement coming from them. Once they decided to give us the form the manager came and slammed the paper on the front desk and told us to get it signed but it all came with attitude. Sucks that we have to deal with the eviction and seeked help from people who doesn’t seem like they care at all. But that is what they are there for. I will definitely be talking to corporate!!! Very sad the experience we had.

For a nonprofit that says they care about people, they don’t really seem to care about their own. I saw this in a lot of ways, especially around decision making. One day, two of us started feeling sick at the old I-HELP center because a few people were smoking hard drugs in the bathroom. Management’s response was to open the doors and let the air flow - that’s it. We had an all staff training where everyone was expressing their burnout and some of their frustrations. The result? Nothing. It’s a shame that the employees who work so hard trying to help people are treated so poorly.
