Hermitage Cat Shelter is a sanctuary dedicated to protecting and caring for abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in Southern Arizona. Founded in 1965 as the Arizona Animal Anti-Cruelty League by Sister Theresa Seraphim, a Russian Orthodox nun, the shelter has evolved into a safe haven for felines in need. The Hermitage operates as both an adoption facility and a long-term sanctuary, with a focus on the well-being of the cats. The staff and volunteers are deeply committed to their mission, treating the animals with the utmost care and compassion. Many of the cats have come from abusive or neglectful situations, and the Hermitage ensures they never suffer that fate again. Visitors praise the shelter's open and spacious environment, with cats freely roaming and not confined to cages. The staff is described as professional, friendly, and always willing to answer questions. While some have experienced delays in the adoption process, the overall sentiment is one of gratitude and admiration for the Hermitage's dedication to its furry residents.
Very nice and spacious rooms and catios for cats/kittens to live out their best lives. Love the fact that this is a no kill shelter.

I love that the kitties aren't in cages and can roam freely from indoors out to their very own catio.

We had to put our old cat down and we brought his remains to be cremated with this facility. They were very kind and considerate. They had a clay paw print ready in 24 hours, which us way better than the place that Banfield uses. Highly recommended
