This is a hidden gem of downtown. More than just a recreation of the Spanish fort, this museum gives insights into diverse encounters in the Santa Cruz Valley. I especially liked the Native People's Park and the displays describing the lives of the Mexican, Jewish, Asian, Black and Anglo communities in the downtown Presidio neighborhood. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

I go there often, I get a coffee at Dandelion Cafe and walk around the museum, sometimes I go over the inside exhibits but I especially like the outside exhibits. There is a slice of all Tucson’s history and culture from indigenous peoples of 2000 years ago through as the Spanish, Mexican and American periods. Then I like walking around the rest of the Presidio that is outside the restored section.

This is a fairly small museum, but it is the best preserved/restored of the five presidios I have visited. The docent was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to talk about the place and the history. It was a wonderful way to spend an hour or two.

Review of Presidio in Tucson on Court :Nestled within a historic landmark, the outdoor courtyard at Presidio in Tucson on Court is a hidden gem. Our visit coincided with a captivating folklorico and mariachi performance that took place in this picturesque setting. Surrounded by the charming ambiance, we explored the gift shop and briefly admired the museum, pleasantly surprised by the unexpected treasures this place had to offer.

My friend and I attended the 2-hour walking downtown Mural tour. Dorothy Yanez, our guide is fabulous! She shared firsthand quotes and stories from the graffiti and moral artists, made sure that we had a far-away perspective to better understand the art, and knows downtown Tucson like the back of her hand. I lam very happy that she was our tour guide today. Highly recommend one of her 3 tours!

This place is full of historical information and invaluable insight from members of our community to keep alive the memories of the tragic events that would take place. It's loud when they have the guns and cannons go off, and I would recommend earplugs or noise canceling headphones.

I had the pleasure of bringing almost 90 people here from out of town (they were here for a business conference). We split the group up and each group was assigned a very knowledgeable docent. They took their groups around the grounds of the museum and filled them with so much interesting information, that I think these (mostly Canadian) guests now know more about Tucson than most Tucsonans!

Amazing recreation of the presidio (fort) of Tucson. Our docent Steve gave us an amazing tour and history of the early fort. The site is not large but there’s a lot of information about Spanish Tucson that is covered. The tour took about 45 minutes and totally recommended to understand how Tucson was settled. There’s free parking available in parking lot a block away.

My wife and I stopped here recently. You can tour on your own or a volunteer tour guide will give you a short tour or long tour. The short tour worked well for us. It lasted about 30 minutes and was a good use of time. It was a little disappointing to learn that the Presidio is not original but we learned a lot from the tour. Definitely worth a stop if you’re downtown.

Tucson has a fascinating history that is more closely tied to first, the Hohokam and other first nations, then followed by Mexico with Spanish influence before it became part of the USA. This little museum sits in the location of the most important places in the history of Tucson, and arguably a large portion of the southwest. Although small, it is well done with lots of information and history of all phases of development. The real value comes from the docents/guides who really animated the history. Mauto was our guide and was very knowledgeable on both the history of the area and how its history shaped what is Tuscon and Arizona today. The museum is part of a delightfully walkable (at least in cooler weather) historic downtown.
