My plan was to walk a loop from the lower trail, under the I-10 bridge and connect up to the upper trail west and south of I-10, but.... the trail ends in a wash with no more signage or direction on how to get to the upper trail Ended up on a gas line road walking up these really steep hills in.order to get back to the upper trail. I guess they never planned that out. The graded jeep trail hills are so steep you chance slipping and falling. Wouldnt it be a nice hike looping around in a circle with the snakehole being the resting spot?? Beware if your not familiar with the end of the lower trail you can get lost. Bikers are rude expecting pedestrian hikers to somehow know they're coming and move out of the way. These trails should be for hikers, not rude bikers.Just like the bikers that ride where there are no bike lanes, almost like they're trying to get hit.. Stupid people always ruin something good.Like the idiots that piled rocks along the way.

One of my favorite stargazing locations. Every month we bring advanced astronomy gear here and set it up for public use. It's really dark yet close to town. It's also a great horse head, Trailhead and fun area to explore with stunning views on every trail.

Great day hikes along wash bed, several animal & bird sightings in early morning. Close to house and easy access.

Good place to start off a grand adventure on The Arizona Trail. Better in the cooler months due to long stretches with no shade. Access the creek from here but be sure to plan ahead because you'll need to prearrange a permit to leave the main AZ Trail and go down there. It's well worth it, though. Be sure to check out the Rattlesnake Bridge, taking the main trail under I-10, to the south.Dog-friendliness: Keep your pets on a leash, for theirs and others' safety, and be prepared to be able to pickup after them.

Very important and enjoyable trailhead. Read up on Gabe, if you aren't aware of the significance of trailhead being named for him. Today lots people were there for the Beyond Hike event. AZTrail staff there, too. Beautiful weather, nice people. Grateful for organizations like these. Tucson & southern Arizona has so many great programs.

Nice parking area (dome paved mostly gravel, with separate parking for equestrian. Porta-John is available (no idea how clean it is). Mountain bike/hiking trail entrances clearly marked.

Beautiful place for a quick hike or just to get away from all the rush. It has biking trails and little crews where you can dip your feet...

Very well maintained trail, no garbage. The parking lot is big and has garbage cans but no water so bring your own. Going to the left goes up some steep hills and going to the right goes to a canyon overlook and is mostly flat and goes under the freeway. All the gates are well maintained and there are lots of plants and healthyanimals.

Excellent trail, connected to the Arizona Trail for both north and southbound direction. Plenty of parking, educational placards, and pets are allowed on a leach.
