“My wife and I stayed here over part of Memorial Day weekend. Our room was nice, if a bit small, and the bed was more firm than is my preference (but my wife very much liked the bed's firmness). My single biggest "complaint" -- as petty as this may sound -- is that the toilets are "old" ... the small "circle" kind of seat ... and I've become accustomed to the newer "oval" seats that are larger (and honestly, more comfortable). The toilet paper is typical of many hotels -- "inexpensive" -- not as bad a "cheap" ... but not "Charmin" either! However, the location is great for trips to Melbourne to visit my family there. It can be a very quiet place, depending on how many people are there -- and the front porch is a nice place to sit when the temperature and humidity are nice. Overall, Ashley House is nice, though the "Bed & Breakfast" is a bit misleading now. I miss the "old days" when this was a "bed and breakfast" place in the "homecooked" sense, though -- having cereal or a toasted (frozen) waffle or plastic-wrapped pastry just isn't the same as a cooked breakfast like eggs, gravy, and biscuits. The reservation system is great -- just call and ask if a room is available, and if it is, you're all set up! As I said, however, overall, Ashley House is nice.”
