I have a passion for old general stores and merchant shops, Gap Mercantile is no exception. The owner talked with us as we were old friends, offering tid bits of the goings on. Her husband keeps the store well stocked with vintage items ranging from books to tools. There is a beautiful selection of quilts and linens too. For the kiddos you'll find a shelves with games, small toys, and penny candy. For those hot summer days there is an ice cream cooler full of treats.

We were so sad that the store was closed for the holidays when we came through to visit. We will have to come back again to see the inside! But, it just so happened this amazing truck pulled up in front of the store while we were getting ready to head out and he gave me the ok to get a picture of him! It just fit perfect. I'm not sure if he was the owner or worked at the store or was just a traveler through, but we liked how he looked parked out front!

Definitely a nostalgic step back in time. The store is wonderfully preserved from the '30s. The smell, wooden plank floors & walls, & sounds of being surrounded by it while you browse...awesome!You can even rent out(AirBNB I believe) the back of the store that's got 2 rooms, a small bathroom, & a living room.

Visiting the Gap Mercantile is a refreshing step into yesteryear with an old-time general store atmosphere complete with antique tools, ice cold soda bottles, classic jams and jellies, garden seeds, and more. You can even play bottle cap checkers with a friend while sitting back and lounging in a pair of rocking chairs on the front porch. I particularly recommend visiting them during their annual Caddo Gap Heritage Festival. Being suckers for all things old-fashioned, our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

I loved this throwback mercantile store. Got some wonderful wild blackberry preserves. They have a lot of items I haven't seen in years.

Such an awesome place to go. My dad and I passed by it one day, and wondering what exactly it was. We parked, and when we went inside we both fell I love with it. Everything in the shop, is very unique, and historic. There is no other shop like this one. We have always loved old country things, and whenever my dad and I came in here, its been our favorite store.

It was a great festival! Fun and educational! I loved the homemade goodies and the other vendors. The foods were great and reasonably priced! Looking forward to this again next year.

My husband and I both found something to buy from a couple of vendors. Fun atmosphere! Was hoping for some music but we didn't hear any if anyone played.
