Pinnacle West Summit Trails is a beautiful state park and one of the favorite parks in the state, offering a quick escape into nature just minutes from the city. It features multi-use trails for hiking and mountain biking, with separate trails of different difficulties, including an easy side and a challenging hard side. The West Summit trail is noted as the easiest to climb the mountain. The scenic views are phenomenal and stunning, overlooking Lake Maumelle, Lake Oauchita, and a lot of Arkansas from the peak, which is the tallest in the state. The trailhead is fun and well-maintained, with many stone steps along the way, though some trails can have slippery rocks and require good trailmarkers. The park is a great exercise and a very relaxing area, excellent for a nature walk. It features a well-developed playground, restrooms located at the base of the mountain, and a visitor's center with a nice scenic overlook of the river. There is plenty of room for walking your dog, with lots of dogs, and several bench tables for a picnic area, though there is limited parking, especially midday on weekends. The park is patrolled frequently by a park ranger. Hikers recommend bringing lots of water, binoculars, and bug spray, checking the weather for storms, and planning to see the sunrise or sunset from the summit. The Pinnacle Mountain hike is well worth the effort.
Great hike, was cloudy day but could still see the water from the top.
