CDM Fitness Holdings Acquires 2 RI Gyms For Planet Fitness
Planet Fitness is pumping iron into two new locations in Rhode Island. Franchise operator CDM Fitness Holdings bought gyms in Warren and Lincoln from Maxx Fitness Clubzz. This expands CDM's number of clubs in New England to 62.
The 20,000-square-foot Warren outlet on Metacom Ave and 15,500-square-foot Lincoln site on George Washington Hwy are now open. CDM will invest over $5 million to fully renovate the gyms in Spring 2024. The upgrades will include new equipment like massage chairs and wellness pods.
CDM CEO Bruce Edwards said the company is "grateful for this opportunity to expand in Rhode Island and bring more affordable access to fitness." With affordable memberships and judgement-free zones, Planet Fitness aims to eliminate gym intimidation.
Edwards added that CDM is "actively seeking additional 15,000 to 20,000 square foot spaces to continue our growth." The franchise group was founded in 2002 with one site in Franklin, MA, and now operates 72 locations nationally.
The new Rhode Island gyms are open 5am to 10pm on weekdays, 5am to 9pm on Fridays, and 7am to 7pm on weekends. Planet Fitness invites newcomers to join online or on-site. With these new locations, the Planet Fitness brand is growing its position as a top health club option in the New England area.
