I’m not one to write reviews, but I had a delightful experience today at the Safeway in Cranbrook. I went in looking for some good old cliff bars, but after an intense search I was not able to find them. So as one does I go looking for an employee. And a very nice young man proceeded to help me, I got my cliff bars and I was on my way. I’m not from this country but it’s nice to know that the rumours are true, everyone is very nice and respectful. Thank you Safeway Cranbrook, for making me feel so welcome in this country! Till next time.

NEVER again will we shop at this crappy store. We live over an hour away and watch flyers so we know when to shop and where. The morning we arrived at this location only to find out that they didn’t have any of the rib steaks/roasts advertised. Two staff members were standing where they should have been and were shuffling around price signs and product. They said they might have some tomorrow. Sale ends tomorrow so pretty sure that means they have a few in the back. No way they will order a shipment for one day left on a sale.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. No rain checks. This is known as lost-leader marketing. They advertise a great deal on something, put one or two out. The crowds arrive. Chances are they have other grocery items on the list, so purchase those while there. Not us. We put the cart back and left. They won’t see us again. We will take our money to the local branch richer instead. At least he won’t disappoint us.

Very nice Safeway, so clean and well organized. Never expect anything less from this company. Didn’t even think of taking pictures. Just went in for some fruit to eat on our road trip. The layout in Cranbrook was pretty much identical to Calgary which gives you a sense of security and comfort when visiting from out of town.

The staff is nice, the store is super clean. However, heavy moved to Cranbrook from the lower mainland. I can attest that prices are certainly more here. The same bottle of kombucha that I buy in Vancouver is four dollars less than it is here for the exact same product.

Safeway deli has declined in quality and consistency over the last 5-6 years.
They used to know what they are doing and now it seems whoever is making sandwiches does not follow procedure. Some times I get 10 strips of bacon sometimes I get 2, sometimes I get overloaded with mayonnaise sometimes I get barely any. Sometimes they charge me extra for 2 meats sometimes they don’t. My point being, it is unpredictable and inconsistent. And today the lady microwaved frozen chicken, gave me less than is necessary for a 12’ in sandwich and put the hot microwaved chicken back in the back with the frozen stuff, some may not see an issue with that but it goes against food safe protocol. She also used the same knife to cut the chicken as she did my bread so vegetarians beware! I don’t think anybody really knows what they are supposed to be doing.

My partner and I order groceries through the app and have someone to grab them for us.
Normally Safeway is pretty good. But In total in the last 3 or so months we got charged for tubs of ice cream that we never got, and this has happened twice.
And now, TWICE! in a row our family member has had to wait an extra 30+mins (both times) in the parking-lot for the order because our order was forgotten to be packed or skipped.
Pretty disappointed in the lack of communication/delivery and the fact our order has now been delayed twice in a row because they forgot to pack it. These where orders we pre-ordered the day before as well so I'm not sure how they got skipped.
Worse part about it is when you point it out, they try to rush the order which makes them way more likely to forget something or mess up the order, and the person we have grab the groceries for us is too nice and she waits for them to do it, even if it delays their schedule.
Beware that as of this review, they are forgetting to pack their online orders.
