On August 13th My husband Terry and myself were gifted a guided fishing trip from Lone Butte Sporting Goods and at 8:30 am that morning Sonja picked us up at our camp site at Fawn Lake Resort and drove us to Simon Lake with an 18 ft 3 seat boat in tow. Sonja was so organized and well prepared for the day as she maneuvered the boat into the water and wiped down the seats then provided towels for our seats in the event of dampness and provided us both with life vests. As we got underway Sonja prepared our fly rods with an explanation about her experiences with this lake and what she thought we might like to begin our fishing experience with. Sonja was so enthusiastic and spoke with knowledge and confidence on each detail. I think Sonja was born with a fishing rod in hand ? We encountered all aspects of weather that day from a cold morning to wind and rain and back to beautiful sunshine. Sonja checked in with us constantly to ask if we were warm enough, needed water or sunscreen all while sharing her inherent knowledge on fly fishing. We anchored in various location and did some casting, then we trolled a little and then Sonja instructed us on a technique we had never tried. She gave us great tips on knot tying and various flies we had not otherwise tried. I can’t speak highly enough about our experience that day on Simon Lake or our incredible guide Sonja. We learned so much – we had so much fun, and Sonja made the day extremely special.
