I had such an amazing experience at this location! Store was exceptionally clean and organized. An employee named ‘Josie’ had outstanding customer service. not only was she friendly and helpful, but she made the experience very easy and enjoyable. I will definitely be back.

I went to marks work warehouse in Nanaimo yesterday to buy a pair of pants. When I entered the store, there were two loud boisterous older women searching through people’s bags right in the middle of the entrance to the store as they left. I’d never seen anything like it in a CANADIAN store, but I’ve seen it a lot in AMERICAN stores. I picked up the pants and took them to the long line waiting to pay. These two women were still at the front of the store, rooting through people’s bags as they left. When I got to the till I asked the clerk what was going on, why were people’s bags being searched?
“Oh, those are employees leaving the store after their shifts”
“But why are those women searching their bags?”
“To make sure they haven’t stolen anything”
“Are you serious? Right in the middle of the entrance so everyone can see? Don’t you trust your employees?”
“No”
This guy was a manager. I told him until they changed their policy I’d never shop there again, and I won’t. How fun to publicly humiliate your employees right in front of the customers they’re supposed to be helping! It must make them feel SO good.
Here’s and idea, Marks, how about you PAY your employees more than minimum wage? How about you take some of those profits, and instead of being a greedy corporation, modelled after greedy American corporations, you pay your employees more than “we pay you what we can legally get away with”.
From this point forward, I’m looking deeply at anywhere I shop, to find out what they pay, and how they generally treat their employees before I give them any of my money.

Terrible service, the employees actually tell you. Its not their job. They do less than I could hope from a clothing store. Its always a experience. Not good.

They sell quality products, but seem to have less choice than they used to. I was looking for a spring/summer jacket without a hood. Every single jacket had a hood that was not removable, nor could you hide it in a collar. I was very disappointed.
Marks has the best sales, this weekend everything was 25% off, plus they also had numerous items at 40% off.

The clothes are very good quality, and even though what I wanted was out of stock, the sales assistant ordered it for me with no shipping charge, delivered to my home.
